CHAPTER 1
SCANDALOUS INTRUDERBreathing heavily, the cold night wind felt suffocating. Bored standing near the ship’s railing, Jack Larson keeps shifting on his position waiting for the party to end.
His broad figure, six feet stance and white suit looks melancholic in the side of the ship.
The extravagant event doesn’t seem to entertain him, adding the fact that his younger brother is the main highlight makes him feel small and neglected.
He didn't want to attend but his mother forced him, since he accepted the invitation she handed and still longed for her attention and his father's acceptance.
“Having enough of the drama?” Jack jerk in shock after feeling a tap on his shoulder. He looks at his back and saw the face that would save him from his agony.
Von, his best friend, a taller guy than him, wearing a red suit, and brush up hair, swiftly took a glass of champagne from the waiter who’s passing by and then rests his right forearm to the banister, crossing his leg at the same time in front of him.
Jack heaves a deep sigh looking at his laid back friend. “Counting on you to save me from this pit of shit, dude. What took you so long?”
A wide playful grin came out from Vons lips, making him feel disgusted after getting what his friend’s smile means. “You never change, Von. You still can’t get enough of your girls.” What he said gained a soft chuckle from the latter.
“They say old habits die hard, bro.” they both turn to the side facing the vast body of water. They are currently in the upper deck together with other relatives and business people who only had eyes for his brother, the family’s valued son.
Jack look down to the water counting each wave that crashed to the side of the ship, even with the loud music, the sound of the crashing waves are the only thing that he could hear.
“Why do I feel like you’re colder rather than the wind, man? Damn you! Stop feeling small in front of these people there not worth it. Enjoy the night instead, the booze and girls!” Von stated full of enthusiasm.
“Do I really look pitiful?” Jack confirms looking at his grinning friend.
“God, you should look at yourself in the mirror!” Von brushes his hair up in disbelief. He’s not the only one who hasen’t change. By the sound of Jack, Von concludes that his friend still not over proving himself to his family and begging love and attention.
“Stop being a loner for goodness sake, Jack. Com’on! I can’t let you stay like this for the whole night. Let’s get you a drink, come!” with his quick move, Von was able to pull Jack from where he was standing and get themselves to the near bar counter.Upon arriving, Von signalled the waiter for a drink. “Whisky for my friend here.” he said pulling Jack to sit.
Hearing what Von ordered, Jack speedily decline, raising his hand to stop the waiter. “No hard drinks for me, a glass of water would be fine.” Jack insisted.
Von laughs hard after hearing what Jack just said. He can’t believe him.
“Bullshit! How could you be so boring until now?”
Jack massages his head. He rested both his arms in the counter and then started poking the bridge of his nose.
“You know I don’t want to do things that could get me in trouble, Von. I don’t want to scare mom.”
