As Miriam walks home from her visit to the library, new book in hand borrowed which she asked the Library keeper to extend the due date for, and she accepted.
She just couldn't get enough of the book.
It was a sad book by a famous city author, about a boy losing his Bestfriend and how he coped with it.
Made her be grateful that her friend is getting better day by day, isn't she?
They still hang out everyday, as Miriam promised her that she would make those days of sickness feel like any other fun day they have.
She was doing great at keeping her promise.

Although, she didn't have the chance for the past two days.
She was up all night, studying every chance she gets, to ace her subjects.
Kallias hasn't really helped much either since that day.. did looking at his sketches really bother him that much?

Too bad.

The dandelions around her kept reminding her of her friend, not visiting her today made her feel guilty.
Does she feel any better?
Has it gotten worse?
Is she eating well?
Gotten enough rest?
All the thoughts raced inside her head, the only thing that'd put her mind at ease, would be seeing her herself.

But it was already around Midnight, and she thought she might be a bother if she went to visit at this time, especially if the girl was already sleeping out of exhaustion.
So she decided she'll visit her next thing in the morning.

She was so focused on her thoughts, that she didn't notice that someone was walking behind her, heading in the same direction.
She only noticed it when she arrived close to the barn, books in hand.
It was the girl's mother.
What was she doing here at this time?

As she nears close to the entrance, she decided to approach her.

"..Good afternoon ma'am! Is there anything I can help you with?"
She says, approaching her with a smile before stopping as she was a few steps away from the woman.

Now she noticed.
She woman had a rather sad expression on her face.

"Ah.. yes dear. Perfect timing.. my daughter asked me to deliver this.. letter, to you.
But she requested, please only open it the next morning."
She says, handing her a pearly white letter neatly sealed off, signed by the girl as she said.

"Thank you ma'am for going all this way to give it to me, I'll be sure to fulfil her request.
Do you want to come inside for a cup of tea?"

"Thank you dear, but I'm fine.
I appreciate it. Have a great Night."
She says, slightly smiling to Miriam, as she starts walking away slowly back to the town.
Even in her movement, you could tell something was on her mind, bothering her or weighing her.
She hoped that the dear mother that greeted her with a smile each time, is doing well..

She heads inside, greeted by her sisters who are still up, making projects for their classroom activity.
They had all signed up in the small school that opened around the same time as the Library, in the town.
She walks over to them, taking a glance, before heading over to her room to finish off the night.

Placing her books on the bedside table, she changes clothes and lays down on her bed, sighing.

What a long day.

Suddenly, she remembers the letter.
I wonder why she needed to open it in the next morning?
Why not now?
Although it was tempting.. she decided to hold back her curiosity, and keep her word.
