The three shadowhunters were walking into The Pandemonium, crossing their fingers that the chance to catch the demon also gave them the opportunity to see Kas and wish her a 'Happy Birthday' in person.
And since Jace was in his own little world, he didn't even bother to move away from the mundane that was in his path, knocking shoulders with her.
"Hey, can you watch where you're going?" The mundane spoke.
Jace, who recognized the voice, turned around. "Kas?" But, the person who he bumped into was not Kassidy Bane, but Clary Fray, her twin sister.
Clary mistook his confusion for flirting. "Calling a girl a different name? Has that ever worked for you? Even once?"
The shadowhunter was even more confused. "You look just like her?"
"I look like who?" Clary asked.
But he ignored her, realizing that Kas did indeed tell them she had a sister, but just not the full story it seemed like. "How could she not tell me about this?"
Clary's creep meter was skyrocketing now that she knew he wasn't flirting with her. "Who couldn't tell you what?"
"Jace!" Alec yelled at his parabatai, trying to get him to focus on the mission. Jace looked at her one last time then headed to where his brother called him.
Clary was left confused about the entire reaction.

Pandemonium was packed as it usually was, but that didn't stop Kassidy from having a great time. Sure, her friends and boyfriend couldn't see her today, but jumping around her dad's nightclub was just as fun.
Said person sat in his booth surrounded by other people drinking and keeping an eye on his little girl. It wasn't the first time she's been here and most of the Downworlders knew who Kassidy Bane was, but Magnus still wanted to make sure his Stringbean was safe.
So as he was skimming the floor, he spotted two people with circle burns on the left side of their neck. Magnus pushed the drink away, stranded up and stalked over to the two leaning on a poll. "Circle members aren't welcome in my club."
One of the circle members played it off like it meant nothing. "No worries, warlock. It's all ancient history."
"Really?" The warlock's eyes shifted to his cat like irises. "To me, it was like a blink of an eye."
The other went to threaten Magnus, but he held him by his throat with magic. "We've endured worse." The shadowhunter grunted in pain.
Magnus's fingers were still glowing blue. "You've inflicted worse. Leave." He dropped the circle member, watching as they fled.
He quickly went to find Kassidy. If two circle members had no problem walking into a Downworlders club, Magnus knew a major shift in the Shadow-world was beginning. And he was right when he bumped into the red-haired version of Kassidy.
"Sorry." Clary said before sprinting off.
The cat-like warlock went pale seeing her rush off, now realizing that his hunch turned true. Quickly, he spotted Kassidy. "We need to leave."
"What? Why?" Kas turned around to look at her dad, not wanting to leave just yet.
"He's back." That was all Magnus needed to say.
"Oh, my god." The young warlock whispered. "Almost everyone here is a Downworlder, if he's back..."
Magnus finished the thought. "He'll come here."
"It'll be a slaughter house." Kassidy was horrified at the thought. "We need to get everyone out."
The Bane's rushed towards the panic alarm that was built in case of emergencies, missing the three shadowhunters that hurried out of the club.
