Designated Saviour

Prologue

Aaron, Emily and Seth sat in the hospital waiting room. Emily was stifling back a sob as Aaron went through something on his phone. It was probably against hospital policy but he really didn't care! Seth was just staring at the ground and twiddling his thumbs. He wanted to comfort Emily but couldn't think of what to say. 

Alex sat across from them biting her nails with Penny's head on her lap, asleep. She tried to ignore the sobs from Emily. She had tried to make her feel better but nothing had worked. Penny had been bought from the White House half asleep! Alex doubted that she had heard most of the things that had gone on. 

Kimble and Andrea were standing in the corner, discussing one thing or another. Alex didn't really care what. Hannah and Mike were standing outside talking about another thing. No one wanted to disturb them as Hannah had been yelling at Mike only a few minutes ago! 

Seth looked over to Emily and put his arm around her shoulders. Emily looked at him and then back at the floor. She normally would have ripped his arm off but this time it just felt different. Everything felt different when you were waiting for news. She then saw Aaron typing something on his phone out of the corner of her eye.

"Do you have to do that?!" Emily moaned breaking the silence.

"I'm just keeping busy. It's not easy waiting around." Aaron snapped back continuing to type.

Emily grabbed the phone out of his hand and threw it on the ground. It didn't break but the screen cracked.

"What the hell was that for?!" Aaron screamed nearly waking Penny and gaining an ice cold glare from Alex. 

"How can you type and play with your phone at a time like this?! You should be paying attention to everything!" Emily tried to sound angry but quietly.

"Guys." Alex tried to say, hating to see them fight.

"I just don't want to think about what's going on." Aaron ignored Alex and carried on arguing.

"Well maybe you should!" Emily had run out of options and begun to sob again snuggling into Seth for some comfort.

"Oh Emily." Alex muttered.

"How long did the doctor said it would be?" Kimble asked, hoping the answer wouldn't be what she thought it was going to be.

"He didn't exactly say for either of them." Alex nodded her head out of the door to Hannah and Mike.

"I'm sure they'll both be fine." Kimble said looking at Penny.

"I'm just glad Penny is still asleep. Leo isn't going to take this well." Alex shrugged a little.

Kimble nodded slightly before getting a phone call. She apologised to the room and went out to answer it. Andrea sat down next to Alex and ruffled Penny's hair. The doctor then entered the room with some haste. Everyone was up like a shot with Mike and Hannah joining them soon after.

"Doctor how is he?"
