Port Royal, The Fort.
Elizabeth and Charlotte are waving their fans and hiding under their parasols in the cruel Caribbean sun as the ceremony takes place. Any other time Charlotte would probably have enjoyed watching Will's hard work on Norrington's new sword be so admired as it was during the ceremony but she was currently gasping for air against the tight laces of her corset and layers of her dress and undergarments.
Afterwards Commodore Norrington walked up to where the girls were hiding from the sun under the alcove and spoke to Elizabeth.
"May I have a moment?" Elizabeth and Charlotte exchanged glances and Elizabeth motioned her sister to stay put in the shade while they spoke.
Norrington led Elizabeth to the side of the cliff where the view was breathtaking and stepped onto the edge of the platform. Charlotte watched while Elizabeth walked over to steady herself against the old crumbling wall as she fanned herself hastily and tried to catch her breath. She could just barely hear their conversation.
"Uh, you look lovely, Elizabeth." Norrington compliments her and Elizabeth still frantically fanning herself chuckles softly and half-heartedly, (I should well hope so Charlotte thought with uncharacteristic heat, this proposal was the entire reason father had insisted on these ridiculous gowns) "I, uh, apologize if I seem forward, but, I must speak my mind. This promotion throws into sharp relief that which I have not yet achieved. A marriage to a fine woman. You have become a fine woman, Elizabeth." Norrington looks briefly at her sister and then back down as Elizabeth gasps.
"I can't breathe."
Norrington of course didn't realize what was going on and stammered out a embarrassed "Yes, I, I'm a bit nervous myself." Just as Elizabeth fainted and fell over the battlement!
Charlotte however had realized what was happening and had launched herself at her sister as she fell. She missed catching the skirt of Elizabeth's gown by millimeters and Norrington finally realized what was happening at the sound of Charlotte screaming out her sister's name.
"Elizabeth! Elizabeth! My God." Norrington watched as Elizabeth's figure fell and made a splash far below, He made to jump after her but Lieutenant Gillette reached out to stop him.
"The rocks! Sir, it's a miracle she missed them." They turned to race down to the sea only to realize that Charlotte was already gone, having fled to the water below as soon as she had realized that she couldn't catch her sister.
..... Sitting on the deck far below a dark haired pirate sat with two sailors regaling them with stories till an opportunity presented it's self to commandeer the ship floating behind them, The HMS Intrepid was a lovely little ship, not his beloved Pearl of course but it would do for now. Far above they heard a sudden exclamation and looked up to see the figure of a woman falling from the cliff. She hit the water hard and with no attempt to dive so the pirate in question could only assume she had been unconscious before hitting the water. He glanced at the two sailors on each side of him and inquired.
"Will you be saving her then?"
"I can't swim." The one on the left insisted and the one on the right just shrugged.
"Pride of the King's Navy you are." Jack rolled his eyes as he stripped off his coat, weapons and hat and handed the guards his effects. "Do not lose these." He instructs them as he dives cleanly in to the water to save her.
Moments later a second young woman runs on to the dock, she is gasping for air from her own corsets but determined to reach her sister.
The two sailors stop her from diving off the edge of the dock insisting that "he" had already gone after her... Who the bloody hell was he?!...
