Chapter 10: Consequences

'Hurry! We must hurry back!'

In the middle of the night, a group of four people are running through the countryside roads and a village all the ways to the front gate. He sees it was left opened meaning only one thing.

"Somebody is here, get ready." He pulls out his sword

"Roger that." The three also pulled out their blades

Tanjiro without any hesitation storms into the mansion ground and went around the garden. He make sure that it was secure before he goes in. Inside, he felt an ominous presence. A presence similar to a demon.

'She's here.'

"Cover your ears, or you will fall asleep." He whispered

"Eh? They can do that?" Najimi questions

"You already saw my fight with the demons before. It's not Impossible for them." Tanjiro briefly explains

"Ah, got it."

Tanjiro moves carefully navigating through the mansion. He checks each room and the patients seems to have gone to sleep. Which worries him whether it's the demon's doing or they're simply tired and fallen asleep. He continues until he reaches the office where usually Kanao or Aoi would call the patients and perform a health inspection. He noticed the door was slightly ajar. He signals for them to proceed with caution. He stood next to the door frame and took a peak inside. He sees a woman with two butterfly hair clip wide awake sitting on her chair.

'Aoi-san. She's awake.' He gladly thought

Without any hesitation, he knocks and went inside the room. His action had shocked the occupant inside very greatly. To the point she fell down from her chair and backed up to the wall behind her.

"Aoi-san. Are you alright?"

"W-who are you? Some new enemies or something?"

His smile quickly turns into a frown. The scent of fear was genuine and not just a simple shock. Once again, he failed to protect another soul. He had wished for his sense to be wrong, but they never do. He knew exactly who's fault it was.

"I was too late. Again." He fell on both his knees

'How did this happened?! Why did it happened?! If I had stayed, would've things gone differently? Maybe I should've listen to her. And now, she too has been taken and replaced by someone else.' His mind is full of guilt

"Answer me you buffoon! Or I will put a curse on you! Don't mess with the dragon force!" The female yelled

"Dragon force? Isn't that what Nakanaka-san would say?" Najimi recalls the phrase

"Who are you?! How do you know my name?!" She yelled

"Oh, looks like you're here-"

Suddenly a new voice spoke out and without any hesitation, Tanjiro got up and point his sword directly at the neck of whom standing in the door holding a tray with tea on it. They're all staring at the male with slightly blueish hair and light blue eyes.

"Who are you? You aren't from around here." Tanjiro spoke in a strict tone

"Why mister, please put down the blade first." The male responded

"Answer me or I will cut your head off." Tanjiro threatens by moving the blade closer to the neck

"Why are you threatening him? I thought you were his blood pact." Nakanaka was confused
