Childe gasped after having been trying to get up without using his hands, breathing rapidly as sweat ran down his body. His cuffed hands had been under the full weight of his body, preventing him from being able to get up. He cursed through his teeth, the bullet wound in his arm stinging, plus the shock of the fall and the additional damage from the debris. He had long since heard gunshots and a loud boom, and despite having been shouting Zhongli's name until his throat prevented him from shouting anymore, the brunette didn't come. He gasped as he propelled himself to the side to roll over, landing on his back, digging the debris into his back, and causing him to let out a groan of pain.

Childe gasped as he pushed himself to the side to roll over onto his back, the debris digging into his back and causing him to let out a groan of pain.

He cursed Zhongli as many times as he could, how dare he leave him lying there? Childe wasn't going to accept Zhongli's previous apologies or any apologies he had to give him, and he would pay him back for what he had done to him at some point, of that he could be sure!

Childe pushed himself forward to sit up, then jumped up to get up. He staggered to his feet, taking several steps forward as he nearly fell to the ground again. Once he was well, he headed for the stairwell, where he could see that light was coming in from outside, probably from the roof door.

He climbed the stairs close to the wall, the dim light illuminating his path slightly, but enough that he couldn't fall. He saw the shots in the wall, the light intensifying as he went. What the hell was Zhongli doing? He better have a very good reason, or at least he had caught that girl who tried to murder them.

After several minutes of climbing the steps, Childe reached the roof door, stepping outside. He squinted at the sudden light, the sky still cloudy. He frowned as he looked around, neither seeing nor hearing Zhongli or the girl. They couldn't have come down the stairs, he must have seen them pass.

Childe began to get nervous, not understanding what was happening. What if they had fallen to the ground? There was no way to run from there, right? He leaned out the wall of the building, seeing the sidewalk of the clean street, without a trace of the brunette. He looked around the other sides until he saw how below the one in front of the door to the roof there were several smaller buildings, quite close to the one he was in.

But there was no way Zhongli could have jumped, right?

Childe looked ahead, and the blood froze in his veins when he saw the brunette leaning against the wall, barely being able to hold on properly so as not to fall.

"What the hell is he doing!?" Childe exclaimed when he saw him, not knowing what he should do at that moment. He couldn't jump in the conditions he was in, and the mere thought of it made him panic. Why was Zhongli almost hanging off the edge of the building? Did he want to fall into the void?

Childe braced his hands on the wall, clenching his teeth as he watched as Zhongli tried to remove the hand that was holding him there, repenting and putting it back. The redhead held his breath, pressing his lips together as all he could do was watch the scene helplessly.

It's not like he would cry if Zhongli were to die right now, to be honest, but the idea of seeing someone die in front of his eyes was not very pleasant.

If he thought about it, there was only one reason why Zhongli would be doing that, and it could only be that the girl had fallen from the building and she had thrown herself when cornered.

She had tried to kill them, but Zhongli couldn't let her die. In any case, she missed many times in the shots, an assassin would not have missed, much less at the distance in which she was. The bullet she had given him only grazed his arm, so it wasn't a serious enough wound either, and she was pretty far from being able to kill him.
