Monday seemed to take an eternity to arrive.
But finally it did and yet the day still felt normal for Aaron. He got his coffee, a double espresso, from his favourite café on his way to the BAU - a coffee that would inevitably be cold by the time he got to work, but miss Angelle would be there with him every hour of the working day - that made it all worth it.
He got to the BAU at the same time as a shiny black car with a beautiful sounding exhaust pulled up next to his car. There she was, Aurora Angelle, in all of her glory. "Bonjour, Agent Hotchner" she said with a sweet smile, grabbing her handbag-a seemingly expensive one.
"Good morning Agent Angelle, it's a nice car you've got there" he said with a wide smile as he dragged his eyes over her shiny and expensive car with the number plate AANGE11E.
"Oh it's nothing too flash" she said admiring her Aston-Martin. "A present from my father, I'll admit it's snazzy" she soon caught up to Him and matched his strides as they walked through the FBI's building and reached the elevator "is there any more paperwork I need to sign today? Do I get to have my own desk? Goodness this is so exciting!"
"You're like a Child on their first day at school" Aaron said with a small smile "you will have your own desk and there is no more paperwork today, if you're lucky you might even get a case today"
"Oh goodness I hope so!" She said clutching her bag a little tighter.
It was then Aaron truly had time to take in her outfit, she was wearing a sheer cream blouse with black slacks and a pair of black stilettos and a black blazer. She was beautiful anyone around could see that, there was no denying it. But Aaron saw something different, he saw how her skin glistened like nobody else's, he saw how when she was anxious or excited, every inch of her skin would flush slightly and she would simultaneously bite her bottom lip making them red and slightly bruised. A sight he wanted to see all too much - her skin flushed under his touch, her lips bitten and bruised by his own, her eyes watering from pleasure she would derive from pain.
"You're staring again" she stated with a small devilish smile, as though she knew why he was staring or she knew he wanted her so badly "do I have something on my blouse?"
"No- no definitely not" he said mentally kicking himself for answering too quickly - while also praising himself for causing her skin to blush slightly.
"Well then, that settles that" she said looking away from him as the tension grew more prominent.
The elevator doors opened finally after what seemed like an hour of them getting up to the sixth floor and they were greeted on the other side with a pacing Dr Reid who was picking the skin around his nails.
"Hotch I told you you shouldn't hire her, she's just going to cause trouble" he said to Aaron angrily "she killed a woman you know. It was her fault an Interpol agent died last year, there's no denying that"
"Reid, it is not your business who I hire and who I do not hire. I suggest you go and sit in my office - I will be there in a moment" Aaron said with an authoritative tone in his voice, there would be no gentle talking-to this time. But Spencer didn't listen. He continued berating her.
"Her death is your fault isn't it Aurora Angelle, you gave her the orders to go undercover and you got her shot. It's your fault she's lying six feet underground today. Yours" he said walking closer and closer to her - she just stood still, frozen, but there was still terror in her eyes
By this point the entire BAU was stood in the corridor listening to Reid shout at her and watching her crumble beneath his words.
"Reid, enough" Aaron said simply as Reid looked into his eyes that burned with anger. "My office, both of you, now." He spoke calmly and flashed a brief glance of humility and understanding to Aurora before all three of them walked through the bullpen, towards Aaron's office.
They each took their seats as Aaron started talking. "You, Reid, clearly have a problem with agent Angelle and I need it to come to an end now. You are single-handedly putting this team in jeopardy over something you clearly cannot let go. Why do you dislike Agent Angelle?"
"Hotch she killed a woman. She is a terrible decision maker and you made a terrible call hiring her. She knows nothing of what it takes to be a profiler"
"I took the classes Dr Reid, I do know what it takes to be a profiler because I am a profiler. Agent Mesenova did not die because of me, or any of my decisions. I was not the leader of that operation and I think you know that. I was not at fault" Aurora spoke calmly
"You keep telling yourself that" Reid said with a small scoff that cut right through Auroras heart
"Listen, Bernadette was one of my best friends at Interpol. Her death was one of the hardest things I've ever faced and it hurt me more than I can say. Her son is my nephew so, listen to me when I tell you this, her death was the last thing I ever wanted Dr Reid. I didn't want any of this, I didn't want her to suffer, I didn't want her to go - I told her not to" her voice shook and raised at certain points as she spoke but her pain was portrayed fully and she was finally heard
"I apologise Aurora" Reid said, his eyes cast down "I didn't know you had a personal relationship with Agent Mesenova, I truly apologise. You shouldn't have had to go through that."
"Thank you Doctor Reid." She said with a small sad smile on her face "it means a lot"
"Well, that was easy." Aaron said with a small sigh "you French women are very forgiving I hear - it's good to know"
"We French women can change our minds easily. Don't make me have to find something to hate about you Agent Hotchner" Aurora said with a taunting smile on her face
"I apologise Agent Angelle" Aaron said, his tone softening to a mere whisper.
A knock on the door interrupted their gazes at each other - it was a blond woman who Aurora had seen at the ball but had not yet been introduced to. "Hotch, I apologise for interrupting its just, we have a case"
"It appears your prayers were answered Agent Angelle" Hotch said with a grim smile
"Well I am a good Catholic girl"
