JULIETTE
Vivianne looked so nice in her dress. It's times like these that I wish we were closer.
She wouldn't even tell me who her date is to the dance. "You did great yesterday."
Vivianne turned to me and shrugged, "You're just saying that cause you feel the need to. You don't have to say anything-"
"I'm serious. You did great."
"Well, I could've done better. Ugh, I could've been cleaned with the kicks and I could've lined up better for the back handspring-"
"Vi, you did amazing, don't eat yourself away by your false tales."
She smiled. "How's Archer, hmm?"
"Fine, I think."
"So, you two are a couple?"
"Nope-"
"That hug said otherwise." She sang.
VIVIANNE
"Okay, so I like him-" She admitted and then stopped herself. "Shit." She shook her head.
"Your secret's safe with me, although it's not really a secret-" I really meant it. I'm not going to tell anyone.
"It better fucking be. If it's not, I am coming after you and plucking out your eyebrows one by one."
"Pretty specific Li, you've thought about it for a while, haven't you?" I snickered
"Only when you lied to mom and dad about not being dropped off."
"Hey! You were smiling!"
"Cause I made a bet! Listen, I didn't have a specific amount of money, but I swear to you, my bet was exactly right."
"Mhm. So.... AH! You and Archer! You two better be slow dancing and having the best night of your lives."
"I'll try. Best night of our lives." She had mocked me. But oh, how wrong we had been.
Archer had picked up Juliette already and they left.
Archer looked so good. With his messy hair finally styled, his light blue tie matching Juliette's dress.
The way he smiled when he saw her come down. Pure and genuine happiness.
And I fingered it out then.
While Archer is perfect, he isn't perfect for me, he is perfect for her.
He's the one who makes Juliette all giggly and smiley.
I think what makes me so jealous is that she's perfect for him too.
He knows it, he has to.
From what I've been told, it takes years for Archer to trust. And what? It took him 2 months?
A girl could only dream for their own Archer Beckett.
And the doorbell rang.
I opened the door to a smiling Brady. "You look amazing."
I couldn't stop the heat coming to my cheeks.
"Sorry I couldn't ask you properly to Hoco, but I hope you like flowers." He pulled out roses and gave them to me.
"They are perfect."
I giggled when I remembered the texts we had exchanged a week earlier.
Brady: What color is your dress?
Me: Imagine the color of roses.
Brady: Do you like roses?
Me: Of course I like roses. Personally, they're my favorite.
He had remembered. He had gotten me roses.

"This is arguably the worst school dance I've been to," I said as I chugged down the fruit punch.
"Tell me about it." He looked over his shoulder at me, the colorful lights hitting his face.
Archer and I were back against the wall watching all of the awkward dancing. We laughed at the random kids break dancing and finally made our way over to the food.
"None of this looks appetizing," Archer made a face and I agreed. So we made our way back to the wall. We were very disappointed to see a couple making out there. "Would you like to dance with me?"
I snickered, "Of course."
And so he grabbed my hand and we walked over to the dance floor laughing. "I should start break dancing-"
"You know how to?"
"No, but that's besides the point." He smiled.
After the song ended, we both agreed that we wanted to go somewhere else. We made our way to the door when I saw Vivianne.
And she was talking to someone. She waved at us and the boy looked over.
And I felt my soul leave my body.
Vivianne's date was Graham Griffin.
VIVIANNE
When Brady looked over at the pair, I saw both of their faces drop. And so did his. "Brady, what's going on?"
Juliette's eyes filled with tears and a frown appeared on Archers.
JULIETTE
"What the fuck?" Archer grumbled as his arm wrapped around my shoulder. "Juliette, let's go."
I nodded, trying to prevent my tears from falling.
He took me to a ferris wheel downtown.
