JULIETTE

I sat in the police station with Octavia next to me. Archer and Maverick were both giving their statements. Octavia and I finished ours already.

"So, Vivianne told me about you and Graham. Is it weird?" Octavia asked and then the door slammed open. I noticed my parents and I quickly hid behind Octavia. When I looked up, they were gone.

"The only thing that's weird right now is that my parents are here. And I know they're not here for me."

Octavia and I quieted down and listened to the conversation.

"Yes, thank you so much ma'am." The boy said.

"I thought you said you weren't going to get caught." My mom said sternly.

"They haven't caught me since August. I was watching them and then their stupid fucking friends came and caught me-"

He's been working for them since the beginning.

"We're not paying you for nothing. Do you understand what'll happen when she finds out we're paying you? And we can't do anything about it now." My dad confronted.

Right. This is about the journal.

I realized it a while later, but in the back of the journal was more writing.

Juliette,

Our parents are weirder than we think. They are great manipulators. Actually, for some reason, anything they say goes.

I witnessed it firsthand. I was going downstairs when I heard our parents talking to Vivianne.

"Vivianne Wilson, you were never close with Juliette Wilson." My mom had told her. And ever since then, Vivianne hasn't been talking to me. It was as if her sayings came true.

I'm not sure, but I think that's how we forgot about the incident. They must've told me otherwise and I forgot.

But I'm not letting you forget.

It really shook me, because it was true. I noticed it before too. Except now, it wasn't working.

"Kill Juliette soon, or you won't be seeing the light of day." My mom said and Octavia looked over at me.

"What the fuck?" Archer whispered as he sat next to me.

My parents. They caused all of this. And they're paying someone to kill me.

"And the boyfriend?" The boy asked.

"Kill him first, in front of her." My mom snickered.

"You guys have to get out of here, like now." Maverick whispered.

"We'll tell everyone else what happened, and we'll visit you. Just leave." Octavia hugged me.

Archer and I nodded and we left.

We went to our houses and packed all the things we could.

As I packed, I spotted my journal. I needed to give it to Vivianne. And I won't hesitate putting in a recent note either.

I finished packing and just as I was about to leave, I went into her room. Where I usually put her food, I put my journal and all the polaroids.

I love you, Vivianne. Goodbye.

VIVIANNE

3 days have passed since the police station incident. Juliette hasn't come home.

Octavia has been acting off and so have the rest of her group. In fact, I haven't seen Archer either.

School had just ended and Graham came over that afternoon. We were sitting in my room when I noticed a piece of paper sticking out of the corner of my dresser.

That was usually where Juliette would drop off random snacks for me. I walked over there and noticed a bunch of polaroids and a journal. I grabbed everything and placed it out on my bed.

Graham looked down at the bed in horror and tears formed in my eyes.

Why didn't she say anything?

"The journal. Read the journal, Vivi." Graham pointed and I picked it up.

The first entry terrified me. The second one was written 3 days ago.

Hey Vi-Vi,

I don't really know how to start this off. I guess I'll just tell you everything.

Our parents hired this guy and he was the one taking the polaroids. Octavia and Maverick caught him and he was put in jail. I was sitting there with Octavia when our parents rushed in.

We sat and listened to the conversation between the boy and our parents.

He's been working with our parents since August and our parents paid him to kill Archer and I.

That is why I left.

Now, I need you to leave too. I need you to leave before it happens to you too. I made sure the rest of my group will help you and Graham.

I love you, Vivianne. Goodbye.

I struggled to breathe as I flipped the last page.

Everything I knew about our family was thrown out the window. The people I loved and adored so much were such horrible people. And while I was getting manipulated by them, Juliette was getting the worst of it. She knew everything. She was dealing with so much more than I thought.

Good luck, Juliette.
