8. Zombie Messiah

                           ~Hailey's POV~

"Hey is anyone else worried about Mr. SunShine over there?" Doc had asked us after another one of our bathroom breaks. We were all gathered around the black truck watching him go in a patch of tall, beige grass. I sat crisscrossed on the hot pavement, cutting up a blade of grass with my pocketknife. Only looking up when they started talking.

"I know, he's looking...worse." Garrnet said as we all looked over to him, who was just taking his time. I shook my head and looked back down at the blade of grass.
"That's one way of putting it." I whispered to myself, but Addy heard me and nudged me with her foot. I looked up at her and she shook her head. I just lightly smiled and look back down.

"Yeah, but he was pretty creepy to start with." Warren stated.
"Oh, come on guys..." Addy spoke up, slighty annoyed. "I mean it the god damn apocalypse, none of us look our best. You know, its just like one really long bad hair day." Addy said again, trying to make sure we don't say anything stupid. I just laughed as they all looked down at me.

"Please. I look amazing." I flipped my hair dramatically, making every else laugh. I smiled before Mack spoke up to us, turning our attention back to Murphy.
"Speaking of hair, what's all those bald spots?" He said. This made me think back to the tornado and how he stayed in the bathroom for a good thirty minutes just messing around with his mouth and pulling out his hair. I didn't bring it up because, well frankly, I don't care. So i just stayed quiet.

"Maybe that vaccine is like zombie chemo." Cassandra thought out loud.
"okay Maybe the vaccine isn't working." 10k said. I shook my head in agreement. Maybe this all was just a wast of time. Maybe we were all just b risking our lifes for a dude who is just going bald.

"Maybe his age is finally catching up with him." I laughed. Everyone else just awkwardly nodded along. Not really knowing what to do next, I look back down to the grass, pulling out another blade to mess with.

"What do you think Doc?" Garrnet asked.

"Eh. I've seen Z's that look better than him." I laughed at his comment.
"You think he'll make it to California?" He turned to Warren.
"If we haul ass." She said as she crossed her arms.

"If he goes zombie, we might have to put him down." Garrnet spoke of Murphey as if he was some kind of dog. I mean, he did act like a dog. All the time.
"Dibs on piking him." Me and Warren said together. I smiled as I stood up, getting into the bed of the truck. Pulling my bow into my lap.

"If he turns, piking him will be the least of our problems." Garrnet said, standing straight and calling Murphy over.
"Pit stops over, lets get moving."
"I have a ginormous bladder. Sue me." Murphy rolled his eyes as he hopped in the back of the truck  with Cassandra and Mack.

"1,154." 10k sayed to himself as we drove down to a small refugee camp we heard about a while back. It's probably just over run by zombies by now. Or it will be as soon as we make it there. But who knows, maybe luck will finally be on our side for once.

When we pulled into the road that lead to the main entrance of 'Province Town," it looked, clean. As if the world surrounding them wasn't infested with the living dead. As if the living dead hasn't roamed the earth yet.

"Surrender all weapons?" 10k read the sign that stood in front of that large metal gates. "Are they serious?" He held his gun tight to his chest.

"Looks like." Mack said as three gaurds with automatic guns walked over to us on a tall platform. I stepped back slightly, gripping my bow tightly in my hands.
"Stop right there!" One of the female gaurds yelled down to us. "This is a private compound. I'm going to have to ask you to turn around and go back the way you came." She spoke with a stern voice. Motioning us to to leave with her gun. Garrnet stepped forward with his hands up.
