It was the most extended five hours of my life. Nothing to do except stare out the window and sleep. When we finally pulled into Grand Central Station, my friends and I stood up and started to collect our belongings. The train slowly jerked to a stop as we grabbed everything. We all made our way off the train and into the station. It was amazing. I have never seen anything like it. The ceiling was breathtaking, and the number of people running around to catch their train was astonishing.
"This is amazing!" I say. Turning around to look at my friend
"Yeah. I know!" They all reply
We made our way up the stairs with amazed expressions plastered all over our faces as we walked up the stairs and out onto the sidewalk. The sight was just impressive. It took my breath away.
I turned to my friends "holy shit" I breathed out while taking in the scenery.
"This is amazing."
"It's just like I picture it but better."
"I'm never going back to suburban life."
"Should we take a cab? Or just walk? I ask my friends." we should probably take a cab because it's like twenty blocks away.
"Yeah, good idea. I don't really want to walk that far." Said Anna.
We hailed a cab and squeezed into the back seat. I tell the driver the name of the hotel we were staying at. It was the Hilton Homewood Suites. It was close to Times Square. The ride took about ten minutes. I sat there looking out the window and thinking about the strange man from the train. As I wondered what he was going to do to that girl he was talking about, I was interrupted from by Emily shaking me saying that we had arrived at the hotel.
We got out of the cab and stepped on to the famous New York sidewalks. We looked up at the hotel and smiled. After taking it in, we ran inside and straight up the reception desk. The receptionist stepped back due to our running."Hi, I'm Rachael and welcome to Homewood Suites."
"Hi. I'm Rachael, and welcome to Homewood Suites."
"Hi. We have a reservation for Riddle." I say.
"O.k. Let me just check on that for you. O.k. your room is number 813, and it's on level 8." She replies
"O.k. thank you." I say as I take the keycard from her extended hand.
We made our way to the elevators and pushed the button to go up. When the elevator opened, we got in, and Anna hit the button for our floor. A bell rang as the elevator stopped letting us know that we were at level 8. We got out and started looking for our room. Once we found it, I slipped the card into the reader then and waited for the light to turn green before opening the door and walking in the room with the girls behind me. The room was cute. It had two beds, a nice t.v. And a huge open window. I put my bags down and ran and jumped on the couch.
"This is so nice," Emily says jumping and landing onto the bed with me.
"I know," Chloe says, walking over to the window. "And look at this view."
"So what are we doing for dinner tonight?" Emily asks, jumping off the bed.
"Well, it's like three o'clock. So do you guys just want to have a look around and then we will figure out what we are going to have for dinner?" Chloe suggested, sitting on the bed.
"Yeah sure." We agree.
I walked over and picked up my little backpack; I turned around to see if my friends are ready which they were just grabbing their bags and phones. We walked out of the hotel room and made our way to the elevators. While we are in the bin, we all had mini conversations.
When the elevator dung we stepped out into the main lobby and made our way to the doors. As soon as I stepped through the doors the warm air hit me and the sounds of cars honking, and busy people rushing around filled my ears. It was the best sound because we were from a small town with about 18 thousand people nothing new ever happened and this was a fantastic adventure. I waked up to the curb and put my hand in the air to hail a cab. After a taxi finally stopped, we all crowded into the car and told the driver to take us to Times Square it was a 15-minute car. I jumped out of the car my friends following, and I was speechless. There were tons of people walking around and the buildings covered in massive tv screens.
"This is so cool" I whispered turning around to my friends who looked like they were in the same amount of aw.
"So where do you want to go first," Emily said looking at us
"Let's just walk around and go into little stores or something," Chloe said
"Yea sure" we made our way through the crowded streets. I followed Chloe as she walked through the doors of one store. I split up from my friends and wandered around the store looking through all the keychains and other little things. I noticed someone behind me and thought nothing of it; this is a store obviously there are going to be people in it, so I moved away onto a new spot where t-shirts were and browsed through those for little, no appealing to me. I turned around and accidentally stepped into someone.
"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't see you."
"yea whatever," the man said in a peculiar voice, I turned away from the strange man and went to look for my friends. I found Emily and Anna goofing around trying on funny hats and Chloe next to hem trying on some sunglasses.
"hey did you guys find anything," I asked laughing at them
"I think I'll get this hat," Emily said turning around wearing a raccoon hat.
"Please don't," Chloe said trying to hold in a laugh.
"I'm going to get these" Chloe said walking over to the register and setting down the glasses.
After Chloe bought her glasses, we let the store and went to the one next door continuing to browse for a while. A little while later my stomach started to make noises, and I realized that I was getting starving. We hadn't had lunch today, and it was almost six o'clock so I must not be the only hungry one.
"Hey do you guys want to get something to eat," I said to the girls.
"yea I'm starving," Emily said obviously over exaggerating her hunger.
"yea sounds good," Chloe said agreeing.
"let's go find a place," Anna said leading the way out of the store. Because it was spring and the days were getting longer, and the sun was still out, and it was pretty bright. I reached for my sunglasses and realized they weren't there.
"Wait. I think I left my glasses behind." I say, turning to run back to the store. When I got back to the store, I walked back over to the sunglass rack and started looking to see if I'd put mine there by accident. They were there, so I grabbed them. As I turned to walk out, I looked in the mirror and saw the same rude guy from the first store, staring in my direction from the back of the store. I thought it was kind of creepy, but remember, it's a big city, it's just a coincidence.
>>unknown<<
I watched her as she walked into a store. Following behind, as I was instructed to watch her. I went to a back corner of the store so I could stay hidden. I followed her around, waiting in the shadows. That was until she bumped into me.
"Oh. I'm so sorry. I didn't see you." She said softly.
"Yeah. Whatever." I say deepening my voice.
After that, I watched as she walked over to her friends. I followed from a safe distance as they left the store and went into another one. I watched them shop for a while, which I found to be quite annoying to be quite honest. Until I heard Embry ask her friends if they wanted to go and eat. I followed them as they left the store. Embry suddenly announced that she had moved her sunglasses back at the store. I quickly walked back in, not wanting her to notice me. I watched as she walked back over to the rack of sunglasses and started looking to see if she had left hers there. When she found them, she glanced into the mirror to look at herself. She then narrowed her eyes, looking at something behind her in the mirror. I was nervous about whether she had seen me or not. Because, if she had of seen me it could be trouble if she realized I was following her.
For the next couple of hours, I watched them as they had dinner, then went back out to do more shopping. I made sure that I kept my distance and stayed out of sight.
