but our friendship will never die.
I will care for you until the end,
for you will forever remain my
very best friend!"

"Yaadon se lad raha hoon

Khud se jhaghad raha hoonAankhon mein neend hi nahi hai

Koel was confused. And angry, very very angry. Like, heart-pumping, blood-rushing-in-the-ears kind of angry. It was a wonder that her fisted fingers had not found their destination yet, denting permanently the face of another beautiful tree.

"God! These bloody idiots. First, Monu hangs up on me, all of a sudden, not picking up even after I have tried to call her at least a hundred times, in the past two minutes and, then ye Sid ka bachha, isse kaha tha yahi rahiyo, mere bina andar mat jaaiyo, but does anybody bother to listen to me? No, of course not, why would they? Koel to vaise hi faaltu ki mothering karti hai, iski kyu suno, ha?" She murmured under her breath, pacing tensely in front of the Academy gates, a worried frown etched on her forehead.

"Ab kya karu? Ye itne saare bags chod ke kahi jaa nahi sakti aur na hi, I can pick them up alone! Damn, curse you Sid for leaving me in a situation like this and you, Mona for disappearing always, without any pre-warning, all in the name of medical emergencies!" She shouted to herself, stomping over twigs and stones to calm herself down, before deciding to do even something better-talk to her son.

"Hello, Miss Rai? Mai Koel bol rahi hu!" She spoke into the phone, as she casually leaned against a nearby wall to avoid the direct glare from the sun.

"I had left my son with you, around thirty minutes ago at the Dormitory, where all the potential cadets have to stay, remember? Arre, mai apna samaan unload karne se pehle apne room me apne bachhe ko chodne ki permission lene aayi thi aapke paas, aur-aur aapne kaha tha ki aapko bachhe bahut pasand hai, and till the time I and my friend move back and forth, packing and unpacking, you would look after him?" With each word, her voice started to get louder and louder, as she put a hand on her wild heart to prevent it from bursting out from her chest.

"Mujhe-mujhe yaad nahi hai? Seriously, iska kya matlab hain, haan? Aap kya ye kehna chahti hai ki aapne mere bete ko kho diya, ha? Ek hasta khelta 8 saal ka ladka hai vo, koi chashma nahi ki aap kahi bhi chodke bhool jayengi! You know what, why am I even wasting my time talking to a senile lady like you, Nikhil, mere bechhe, tu-tu chinta mat kar, teri Mendhaki aa rahi hai!" She screamed at the top of her voice, hysterical tears sprouting out of her eyes, before she could even realize their presence as the metallic device slipped from her hand, her mind beginning to fog up.

"Why, oh why! Sab meri galti hai, mujhe mere mendhak ko uss buddhi amma ke paas chhodna hi nahi chahiye tha, I am such a failure, a very-very bad mother! Nikhil is so-so much better off without me! I should have agreed to hand him over to the community center that day, instead of fighting tooth and nail to keep him with me! That way, he could have gotten adopted by someone who deserved him, a parent a golden soul like him deserved!"
