"Kartavya, Saahas aur Balidaan! Desh ki khaatir, Desh ke naam!"
The voice somehow seemed familiar. As if he had heard it a million times before. Yet as he strained his brain to place it, he found himself unable to do so. His only hope, now remained the part when the introductions would begin and the large man standing at the podium would finally state his name and position.
"Hey, wait, haven't I seen you somewhere before?" A feminine voice suddenly spoke near his ear and he turned around with a jerk, snapping out of his lost thoughts to stare at the person who had sneaked upon him.
A woman stood before him. A young, twenty-some woman with brown hair and green eyes, wearing a white doctor coat on her shoulders. Her forehead was stretched into a frown as she peered at him curiously, trying to identify him, from god-knows-when.
A groan escaped his lips as the prospect of meeting another one of his ex-girlfriends suddenly flashed through his mind.
"Damn! I hope she doesn't turn out to be clingy like the rest. After all, she looks intelligent and smart, what with her being a doctor!" He mumbled under his breath, before schooling his expression into that of oblivion and speaking, "Umm, I don't think so, mohatarma! You must be mistaken! Hum Chalte hai!"
With that he attempted to move out of there, weaving his way through the unorganized mess of trainees and trainers who littered around here and there in the huge auditorium, hanging on raptly to the words of the man on stage.
"Ha, now I got it! You were admitted into the North First Aid Military Camp, a year ago, weren't you? I was your doctor then, Monami Mahajan, remember?" She suddenly asked from behind him, her silent footsteps following his loud ones.
At that, he whirled around to a stop, his face breaking into a tiny relaxed smile. "Wait, Dr. Monami-Tsunami? Now, I remember! Oh, thank god! I thought you were one of the girls I had dated!"
"What? You seriously thought I was one of those clingy ex-girlfriends who stick to you like glue? Ha, I am offended! I thought I dressed better." She muttered, mock-outrageously, a playful smile glinting on her face, though he could detect a glimmer of sadness lingering in her eyes as well.
"Why, of course, Doctor Tsunami! You look perfectly like the doctor you are, well-dressed and respectful. Sorry, It's my fault for misunderstanding you in the first place!" He replied, sheepishly, rubbing the back of his neck, with a smile.
"Well, normally I take my profession very seriously and don't forgive people for misjudging me but something tells me that you come from a genuine place, So, I guess I could find it in my heart to forgive you! After all, I am a doctor, am I not? And we are not allowed to leave people hanging, hmm?" She answered with a wink, before forwarding her hand, in the gesture of friendship, to which he nodded gratefully, before placing his palm on hers.
"Now, are you going to remind me of your name, or do I have to guess that, too, huh?" She asked, a moment after when he did not take the hint, as intended.
"Ohh, right, Sorry! Damn, I seem to be apologizing a lot to you! Anyways, Secret Agent Charmer aka Faizuddin Siddiqui at your service, Ma'am!"
