Fishing is Fun Sometimes

Alex

The car ride wasn't very long. Jeremy and this so-called Michael only drove me to the park. They parked the car and pulled a fishing rod out of the trunk.

"Guys, why the hell did you just take out stuff to fish?" Jeremy put his finger up to my lips and shushed me. "This test will prove if you're worthy of our beautiful photos."

They led me over to the pond, and put the equipment down. "If you can successfully catch at least one fish, then maybe we'll give you the pictures."

I took a deep sigh. "Guys, isn't this a major waste of time? I mean we're trying to find a guy who tried to fucking kill Thomas. I think it would be better if you just ga-"

"Alex, this has a purpose. I swear." I once again sighed. "Alright. Fine. Whatever you say Jeremy. Fucking nerd"

I walked over to Michael and grabbed the fishing rod. We all walked over to the pond and they instructed me on how to fish. "Who even goes fishing anymore?"

"Very cool and awesome people," Michael rebutted.
"Can you guys just shut up and let Alex fish?" Jeremy was obviously losing patience, so me and Michael just shut up.

I threw the line into the water and it fell in with a sploosh. "Now what? Do we just wait for a fish to hook on?"

Jeremy shook his head. "Alex, you impatient bastard. Lower the line. You'll see soon."

I lowered the line and continued waiting. After about a minute, something hooked. "Guys! Something hooked! What do I do now?"

"Reel it in!," they both screamed in unison. I did as they said, and up came a backpack.

"What the hell is this, guys?"

"I don't know. Why don't you open it," Michael said with a shit-eating grin.

I hesitated to open the soaking mossy bag, but I did as they instructed. Inside the bag, there was a book inside of a ziploc baggie. I carefully took the book out, and saw on the cover it read 'Aaron Burr's diary'.

"Oh my god! Thank you guys so much!" Michael and Jeremy both looked at me, proud that they led me there.

"Michael extended out his arm, photos in hand. "I was just kidding about there being other tasks. You can have the photographs now."

"I will never forget this guys! I gotta go though, thank you!!!"

I turned to run back home, but then remembered that my car was at their house.

"Actually, nevermind. Can y'all drive me back? I just remembered my car is at your house."

Jeremy chuckled. "Ya sure, dumbass."

For once in my life, I actually got a chapter out in time. The school year has finally ended, so I'll probably be able to get these chapters out on a more regular basis. Once again, thank for you reading me and fishyysoup 's book :D
