Golden snakes

A/N: this request is by LadyMaegor who wants a Medusa Mirabel, I also add a bit of King Midas too it.

There gold in her veins. There was snakes that wrap around her skin and in her hair.

This was her gift.

The price for happiness.

When Mirabel touched her door it glow and shimmer, then the image appears. It showed an older Mirabel with one hands over her eyes and the other hand holding a a pot. In the image hair was snakes and the pot seems to glow. Gasps and murmur rang out at they saw her door. Then the murmur become talking and comments when the door finally finished and with a soft pop! Snakes appear in her hair.

Mirabel froze. The snake in her hair hiss and wrap and move around her head, one lead down toward her eyes and hiss. Don't be afraid. We are your gift little one. We will not hurt you. We can move to a different part of you if you don't want us on your head.

"Umm. Sure?" She spoke out loud. Another pop was made and her hair became normal again but the snakes move to her around her neck and arms. Turning to face her Abuela she flinch back at her grandmother's reaction.

Her Abuela's face was morphed into one of fear. Her wife's were wide and she was tremble, taking a step forward to comfort her grandmother she see her Abuela flinch and move back.

"We....We have a new gift." Abuela turn and address the crowd.

This is the worst birthday ever.

It's been a month and the family and town has been difficult to her. Her parents and sisters still love and care for her, but they are hesitant about her snakes. And Isabela dosnt want them near her flowers and her Papa didn't want to touch them, afraid that they bite him.

There are only 5 snakes on her, the family think that has she grows older the number will increases. Her Tio Felix and Tia and cousin have mix reactions. Camilo seems afraid of te snakes, Dolores doesn't mind the hissing but still think their creepy. Her Tio and Tia think she's curse and her Abuela prays to her grandfather about why she was curse with this gift. Her Abuela always send her to the church every weekend, to pray and to help the priest. The town and Abuela believe that Mirabel is punished because god or the miracle is a grey at them. After all why would a sweet, kind, energetic girl be gift a horrible "gift"?

The only family member that treats her the same and even understands her is her Tio Bruno. He know what it's like to have a gift that is seen as a curse. The up side is that Abuela is have the two "train" with each other. AKA stay out of the way and keep praying at church.

As for the town? They hate and are scare of her. Especially once they found out that Mirabel can turn objects into stone or into gold.

"Medusa and King Midas. Those gifts are bare off the Greek legends!" Luisa explained the day after Mirabel's birthday. The young gift happily explained the myths and their symbolism and meaning. While that was interesting and cool, it didn't really help Mirabel.

The town found out she can turn things into stone when a boy threw a shoe at her. Thankfully Camilo was with her and he shouted at her to look out. Mirabel turn around and instantly her eyes glowed gold and the shoe turn to stone.

The town fears her after that. Afraid that she could turn people into stone. Thankfully Mirabel can only turn things into stone when she feels threatened. She new because the snakes told her, try to comfortable her after the shoe incident. As for the gold?

It's the opposite. When she feeling depressed she can turn things into gold. The town saw this after she cry from almost being hit with the shoe and the townsfolk were yelling at her. Her tears fell and they turn to gold.

That the only reason the townsfolk want to interact with her, for her gold, for money. It wasn't even a useful gift! She can make money or stone how can that compare to growing plants or healing or moving heavy objects?

It wasn't. So Mirabel cries and her tears are gold and she puts them in a jar.

The story of King Midas said that he got rid of his curse by waving his hands in the river. So a 5 year old Mirabel travel to the bears river and washed her hands, over and over until they bleed and were red. Maybe if she was clean this curse will go away?

It didn't.  Maybe she wasn't trying hard enough? Maybe she needs to be selfish and generous? When the town wants her gold she's give it to them? Maybe then it can be use up and will go away? Maybe she can make her snake just be on her neck or arms and hid them. Be normal.

So that's what she did. She have the town her gold, she hid her snakes, she cover her eyes and hid her face. Out of sight out of mind. Be useful be quiet be worthy.

Green, black, and gold. Those three colors overtook her lift. Currently 15 year old Mirabel dress in long flowing golden dress. A golden crown was a pond her head and her hands were stain with gold. Black swirls where on her dress and skin. Green glasses and green snakes too.

She was tired. Tired of this pain. Of the town, of the fear, of the praise that all her family have only her and Bruno being the only ones not praises.

As the years grew, as she grew and her snakes too. She became more and more angry, more and more cold and heartless. If they town gear her and her Tio, why not give it to them? With two of them they can rule over the Encanto.

Spending her time waiting she acting like the Mirabel the town and family knew. The simple Mirabel, the cheerful, sad, determined one. A fake smile. Inside her mind she was separating the one she want to keep, the ones that are her true family, and to the one that pretends to be family.

Maybe they can be stone and gold? I never try to combine my two powers? It will be beautiful.

Her snakes hiss and wrap around her, hissing their thoughts and opinions. She waves them off, she didn't need their doubts. Walking to the table she sets out the plates, humming. Tonight is Antonio's birthday and gift ceremony. Tomorrow she'll put her plans into action.
