The kitchen of the dimly lit cabin filled with the symphony of sizzling as Kevin dropped a pat of butter into the hot cast iron pan. The entire cabin smelt of steak, herbs, and vegetables roasting in maple and butter.Beneath the loud sounds of the kitchen, faint music from Kevin's stereo was just audible to Connor as he read on the sofa.
"Babydoll, come taste this for me" Kevin beckoned from the kitchen
Connor obediently dog-eared his page and set the book gently down on the coffee table, before strolling into the kitchen with a smile
"Yes, Chef?"
"C'mere" Kevin skimmed two fingers over the surface of a mixing bowl of pale yellow pastry cream, before holding them out to Connor's lips
He accepted the request, licking the batter from Kevin's fingertips without hesitation
"Mmh- that's delicious, what is it?"
"Dessert. Does it need somethin'?"
"No, it's perfect.. look at you, my own personal baker.." Connor smirked toweling off Kevin's hand for him while he attended to his cooking
"We Prices take our food very seriously.. don't matter if you're a housewife or a criminal, ya better damn well know how to carry on a family recipe." He chuckled In response
"You're very talented.."
"Eh, it's in my blood.. show me an Italian that can't cook, I'll show you one'a the pope's whores"
"..is that a saying?"
"Not a clue.." he looked up from the stove with a cheeky grin "..ya look gorgeous."
"That's cause it's so dark in here" Connor chuckled
"Oh quit it with that, you're an angel.. can ya put the cream in the fridge for me?"
"Yes, Chef" he answered, making Kevin roll his eyes as he transferred the mixing bowl to the refrigerator
"Thank you, Dollface"
"All in a day's work... this place is incredible. I know I said it before, but.. christ, that view, I can't get over it." He looked back out the large window, across the lake
"M'glad ya like it.. don't come up here too much."
"No? I'd be here every weekend if I were you."
"It ain't much fun alone.. good for a little peace, once n' a while, but.. I don't take many breaks."
"Well you must've taken fellas up here before.. or gals.. most romantic place I've ever seen."
"Yeah, well... there ain't been anybody worth taking."
"Oh come on, I don't believe that.. I won't get jealous, I know your reputation." Connor smirked
"Nah, I mean it.. got no reason to make a three hour drive with a gal I ain't into, just to get laid.. I can do that just as easy back in Manhattan."
"So why'd you get this place? If you never brought anyone?"
"I assumed I'd bring somebody, just never did.. ain't liked nobody enough... think about it, I'm s'posed to be trapped in a car for three hours, then in a cabin all weekend, with somebody I don't want nothin' but sex from? ..folks don't usually even spend the night. We put our clothes back on and they go, I certainly don't wanna vacation with em."
"..it's sad that you haven't had anyone you like to be around.. but I can't pretend I don't feel pretty special, being the only one you'll take." Connor snickered
