 "Orion!" A voice yelled.

"I'm up! I'm up! Don't let those candy demons get me!" Orion replied. He had jet-black hair, with a few strands being dark or light purple. A purple star was over his left eyelid. Orion was tall for a 13-year-old, as he looked like he was in his freshman year of high school. His imagination got him to make impressive inventions that not even the best kid in arts and crafts class could do.

He looked around the room, and saw his older brother, Jared, looking at him sternly. Jared had jet-black hair, and his eyes were a dark green. Even though he was a freshman in high school, he was short for his age. Jared's impressive grades in math got him from 7th grade to sophomore in high school pretty quick, so he was able to do complicated math in only a few seconds.

"Oh, hey, Jared. I'm guessing you're going to lecture me about my sleep schedule?" Orion asked, still half-asleep.

"No. I'm waking you up to tell you that you're late for school, Orion!" Jared yelled. Orion gave Jared a look that simply said, "Are you dumb?"

"Jared, it's summer. We don't have school." Orion replied. Jared had a surprised look on his face, which soon turned to embarrassment.

"But, I don't hate that you woke me up. I still need to pack." Orion said, awake. Jared's eyes went wide, and then he ran to his room.

"Well, looks like somebody forgot to pack." Orion said under his breath. He got out of his bed, and looked around his room again. Starry wallpaper was torn, pulleys and other contraptions were on the floor, broken. Orion's closet door was torn off its hinges, and the right side of his wooden wardrobe faced the ceiling. Quills, pencils, and pens were knocked over. Orion looked into his closet, and surprisingly, his clothes weren't torn. No scratches or cotton sticking out of the vests, and no tears in any of his sweaters or hoodies. Orion walked over to his pile of bags, and put the last of his clothes and items into the open bags. Although, he did have a little trouble putting the bags into his parents' car. Jared walked up to Orion.

"Where are we going again?" He asked. Orion turned to look at Jared.

"We're moving to Detroit." Orion replied. He turned and got into the SUV. Jared hopped into the back seat, and Orion's sister wasn't in the car. Orion got out and went back into the house. Orion searched through the hallways, not remembering where his sister's room was. After searching for what felt like hours, Orion found a blue and purple colored door, marked, "Cassidy Darkheart's Room". Orion quietly opened the door, and found his younger sister still sleeping in her bed.

Cassidy had long, blue and purple hair that was neatly braided. She was young for a middle schooler, but her advanced art somehow got her into middle school, making her the youngest kid in middle school. Even though she was 2 years younger than Orion, she felt like a 13-year-old.

Orion snuck through Cassidy's room to finish packing, and carried her and her bags into the car. Soon after, Orion plopped into his seat, and opened his backpack to take out his notebook. But, there was something new in the gray backpack. Lying in the bottom of the bag, was a large, leather-bound book. Orion pulled it out of his gray-colored backpack and blew the dust off of the large book. To Orion, it looked like a medieval tome. He decided he would read it later. The car left the wooden house, and turned onto the freeway. Orion looked out his window as they drove away from their old home. Orion had spent years exploring the woods around their house, wanting to find adventure, even though he never found it. Orion felt his body dozing into sleep, so he decided to fall into a deep sleep. Before he knew it, he was already in Detroit when he woke up. It looked more advanced than he thought it was.

It was a colorful and bustling city, with people and cars everywhere in sight. Buildings were taller than he imagined, with them being hundreds of feet tall. The tallest building he saw was in the middle of the city. It had to be at least 5,000 feet tall. The car took a turn, and Orion knew where he would live. The only person that wasn't excited was Jared, but he wasn't excited by much. The only thing that excited him was that there was an Advanced Math club at the nearby high school. The Darkhearts exited the car, and entered the building. Inside, Cassidy and Orion saw so many things that amazed them. Cassidy saw thousands of paintings, all made by different artists. Orion saw inventions that he could never imagine. Pulleys carrying multiple plates of food over people's heads, and advanced appliances.

"One suite, please." Oliver asked the person behind the desk. She gave him two room keys, and one emergency key. A total of three keys.

"Your room is Room 517, sir." The lady behind the desk explained. The Darkhearts walked towards the elevator, but Orion decided to take the stairs. Orion found the stairs and started climbing. On one of the platforms, Orion found a small, rectangular, black box with gold plating. On one side, a tree-shaped lock was carved. Orion tried to pull it open, but it wouldn't budge.

"I wonder who lost this?" Orion asked himself. On the bottom, a small, golden plaque said, "Property of: Orion Foxro Darkheart", but he didn't think he owned it. Orion shrugged it off, and put it in his hoodie pocket. Orion continued making his way up the stairs, and soon found his stop. He opened the door leading into the hallway, and found out that his room was right next to the stairs. Orion used one of the keys and opened the door. The white room shone brightly in his eyes, unlike the dim stairwell. The room was empty, and he thought that he somehow got to the suite first. Orion walked over to the large window, and looked out at the large city of Detroit. To him, it was breathtaking. He was sure that Cassidy thought the same. Just then, the door creaked open, and the rest of the Darkhearts arrived.

Orion still looked out the window, awestruck by the size of Detroit. Before he knew it, the sun was already setting. Crap! I still have to unpack! He thought. Orion ran to his bags, but they were empty. A note on the wall to his right said, "Already unpacked for you! P.S. We went for a little drive around Detroit. Be back in 30 mins! -Cass" Orion knew this was his time to read that book he found in his backpack. He looked around the suite, and found his backpack still on the bed where he originally put it. Orion opened the bag and pulled the book out. He opened the book, and dust flew out, causing Orion to cough. He blew the dust away, and looked at the Table of Contents.

"1:Another Realm 2: Potential Dangers & Allies, 3: Legends & Myths, 4: Biomes and Flora, 5: My Journey Home." Orion read. He turned the pages until he landed on the second chapter. He flipped the page, and a picture of a scorpion-like creature with a small, fluffy tail instead of a barbed tail was at the bottom of the page. The page had a title in cursive writing that said, "Aciers & Adieves". Orion slowly read the page, amazed by its clear descriptions and fictional places. Once again, he felt his body start to fall to sleep. Orion put the book back in the bag, and dozed off into a deep sleep.
