TWELVE NEVER GOT a normal childhood. She was an imprisoned lab rat. She barely knew how to talk when she first was brought into the lab, her older sister having to teach her simple words she would always forget. But her speech has gotten much, much better. Another thing she was good at — besides talking — was controlling her abilities. Her gifts. Her powers. Somehow, Twelve was the strongest kid in the lab when it came to her powers and anyone else's. Everyone feared her for this. She was the only subject in the lab who was gifted with four powers. When Twelve realizes Papa is going to make her hurt something on purpose — like a human — she realizes she has to leave her sisters, Kali and Eleven, and escape the horrid lab.
