AN: Okay, so the first bit of this chapter is going to be a lil' boring. I know you're not really supposed to describe the main character (physical appearance, personality, etc.) at the very beginning like this, but I really didn't know where else to put these things, so I kinda just plopped it down at the beginning of the chapter. However, with all this said, I promise the pace picks up once we get through all the boring stuff (I gave Nick Heelys!).
Anyways, enjoy the messiness!
They say the first casualty of war is innocence. This was definitely the case when I first came to Beacon Hills High School in early September of my freshman year.
I suppose this is the part of the story where I should tell you a bit about myself. Yeah, this isn't really what you're supposed to do when telling your life story, but I don't really know where else I could put this information. My name's Alice Simmons. I moved to Beacon Hills California from Regina Saskatchewan when I was thirteen, going on fourteen two weeks from then. As for physical appearance, I have medium-length light blonde hair that I like to tie back in a half-up-half-down sort of way (I don't know the actual name for it). I also have soft blue eyes, a small face, and freckles like extremely dull stars scattered across my cheeks and nose. I have a slim figure and the last time I checked I was, 5'3" in height. The only other significant part of my appearance other than my clothes (on that day, it was a white t-shirt, a lightweight cardigan, light blue slightly ripped jeans, and white sneakers) would be my oval framed glasses that everyone just had to comment on at my old school.
I had to move with my parents to Beacon Hills when my dad got a job there as a cybersecurity engineer. It sucked that I had to leave Regina, but I had lost all my friends there after they - thinking of me as expendable because of my "weirdness" - left me stranded in the woods over the summer, where I almost got attacked by a wolf with diamond blue eyes (Because THAT's a thing apparently). I'm not THAT weird, but I do have medically diagnosed anxiety from being left out all the time, so it makes people judge. In addition to this, my cousin, Gabe Valet, was generally well-liked at my new school. He was a confident and somewhat arrogant guy. He was a bit of an overprotective hot head, but he somehow managed to be a class clown at the same time. He was a Chaotic Neutral, to say the least. Fun fact: He was actually the guy who saved me from being attacked by the wolf my old friends left me stranded with. He and his parents - My Aunt and Uncle - were visiting Regina for my Pop Wheelright's funeral at the time. He saw me and my old friends go into the woods, got worried, and decided to sneak out and follow us. He brought one of my little brother, Charlie's, Nerf guns with him just in case - and, let's just say, it came in handy.
Everyone says I'm as innocent as innocent can get. I never understood any of the - ahem - kinky jokes any of my old friends made at my old school, partly because they never let me in on anything (Another reason why they're called "old friends"), so I guess that makes sense. That said, I am an honours student, so it's not like I'm innocent to the point where I don't know how babies are made.
So, when you think about it, I'm pretty much the physical and mental embodiment of a y/n in your average "x Reader" fanfic. Blonde hair, blue eyes, shortness, anxiety, bullied in school, a not-like-other-girls aesthetic, y'know, typical y/n behaviour. I could easily be y/n for Halloween if I knew how to tie my hair up in a messy bun without looking like a washed-up ballerina. I'd say the only difference between me and a y/n is that I'd like to say I have some sort of personality, my parents would NEVER sell me to One Direction, and I don't have the tendency to call my eyes "orbs". I also have a daily stutter count of less than 5,000, so that's a thing.
Anyway, back to the main story. Mom dropped me off at the main doors of the school on the morning of my first day. I was sure I could make my way to the principal's office myself to get signed in, but, truth be told, I had absolutely no clue where I was going. I wandered aimlessly through the extensive hallways of the first floor (because why would the office be on the second floor?), hoping to find an office somewhere, but it was no use.
