Chapter 16: Warehouse

Y/N POV

We were kicked out of Richmond and are heading to an area David marked on a map.

Flashback

Clem and me sneak through the New Frontier camp with AJ. Some New Frontier soldiers are gathered around a campfire nearby.

Clem: We're gonna get you the medicine you need, AJ. We don't care what they say.

Y/N: Yeah buddy we're gonna fix you up.

Clem and me sneak over to the infirmary, where Lingard is sleeping. Clem sets AJ down and he starts crying.

Clem hums to AJ.

Clem: Shh! Just like that, little guy.

Y/N: God you're adorable.

AJ stops crying. Clem takes out a piece of paper that says "VANCOMYCIN".

Y/N: Where is the Vancomycin?

Clem examines a vial of vancomycin.

Clementine: Here it is. It would have to be a shot.

Clem takes the medicine and syringe.

Clem: Shit, hang in there, goofball. This is gonna get you better.

Y/N: Yeah buddy.

Clem fills the syringe. Lingard wakes up.

Paul: Kids...

Clem: Dr. Lingard? What's the matter with you?

Paul: I'm... I'm fine... Kids, please don't. The vancomycin... that's the last of it. It'll be wasted on AJ. I told you two, it could save someone's life if used right. It's too valuable to throw away.

Clem: You selfish jerk. You'd let him die to save your drugs?

Paul: Because they won't do a thing for him.

Paul: I'm sorry, Kids... I tried everything. I really did.

Clem: This will help him get better.

Paul: Nothing can help your boy now. Oh, kids. Put the drugs back, before anyone finds out you took them. You know what they do to thieves here. There's still time...

Y/N: What the fuck is wrong with you? Look at you. You're wasting drugs to get high but you won't use them on a baby.

Clem: We have to try.

Clem: Come on, goofball. I need you to be brave for us now, okay? Shh. See? It's not so bad.

Clem injects AJ with the medicine and he cries.

Clem: AJ, shh!

David: What the hell is this?

Paul: They... I told them it was a bad idea!

David: You fucking high again? Pull yourself together before the others see you! Deal with the damn kid. (to Clem and me) What the fuck were you thinking?! You were told those drugs couldn't help him! How could you be so stupid? So selfish?!

Y/N: Go fuck yourself! We aren't gonna give up on him.

David: Except there's nothing left to do!

David: That waste? That'll cost someone's life down the road. Someone in this camp! Someone who contributes to our survival!

Y/N: Oh yeah nut Lingard can get as high as a kite and there's nothing wrong with that eh?

Ava: C'mon, David, they were just trying to help their kid.

David: We helped enough! We should have left them out in the woods a week ago!

Clem: But look, it's helping...
