Ian and I made our way to the living room, looking to grab a bite before we faced the others and slipped back into the issues we were so desperately trying to escape. My heart was filled to the brim with overwhelming emotions, joy, love and fear. Most of all, fear.
Ian didn't realise just how much he affected me. What if he decided he didn't want me anymore once he realised he had me completely?
I pushed the unnerving emotions down and headed for the fridge. Ian followed me, constantly pulling me in for a few wayward kisses. Gosh, I wanted nothing more than to throw him back into my bed and pretend we were alone in the universe.
Judging by his tight grip on my thighs and my waist, he wanted the same.
I chuckled against his lips.
Someone coughed out, interrupting us.
Ian's hands dropped from my body and I jumped away from him, my gaze skittering to the living room. A bright red blush sneaked to my cheeks as I took in... everyone.
Sheila and William were on the couch, sitting suspiciously close to each other. They exchanged a glance amongst each other and Sheila grinned at me. Thomas was in the armchair, his foot tapping against the floor; he was the one who coughed.
Tina has just entered the living room through the terrace door and laughed her ass off as I tried to pull Ian's shirt down to cover my butt.
Caiden stood behind the glass coffee table littered with papers, his laptop in hand and a weird expression on his face. He stopped doing whatever he's been doing until that moment and his eyes met mine.
I looked at Ian and his shirtless self and pushed down the flooding embarrassment.
"Good morning." Sheila grinned. "Had fun last night?"
I forced a casual smile to my face, "Plenty."
"Is that why you didn't want to tell us what happened last night?" Thomas squinted. "Because you wanted to go fuck?"
I frowned, "Seriously? Sometimes I truly think you're a little dim-witted."
"We need to get to work." Thomas ignored my remark. "Get dressed."
Ian laughed, "He really is allergic to fun, isn't he?"
"You have no idea." I rolled my eyes and opened the fridge. "I'm hungry, we'll get to work after I'm done eating."
"In the basement, now!" Thomas's roar shook me and I jumped away from the fridge.
"What the hell's gotten into you?" I took the blood bottle, realising he wouldn't let me enjoy my meal like a normal human being.
"Uh," Caiden cleared his throat, "I had a breakthrough. Uh, with the thing."
His gaze escaped through the terrace door to the backyard, as if he was expecting to find cultists glued to the glass, listening to our conversation.
"Okay." I took in everyone. "Let's go then."
My nerves jumped up and down as we descended to the basement one by one. Ian's hand snaked around my waist and he pulled me closer. Warmth flooded through my veins.
"Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to wear my shirt." He whispered in my ear.
"How about you get me my clothes?" I hissed. "Everyone can see my butt."
He smiled, "It's a cute butt."
"Get me clothes." I commanded.
"Yes, honey." Ian grinned and let go of my waist.
