Sunshine reflected off the glass windows and heated up the panels and the brick around them. The day has already started; the birds chirped in the trees and people drove to work. Our walk of shame ceased once we finally entered the house.
"I think I need to throw up." Sheila exclaimed and dragged herself up the double staircase in the lobby.
Tina followed her, "Me too!"
Ian entered the living room and dropped his keys on the glass table, causing a loud clink that reverberated through my skull. Thomas threw himself on the couch, grunted and rubbed his eyes.
"Such a fun night!" William grinned and strolled to the kitchen.
"Give me blood, please." I sat in the armchair and pressed between my eyes. Pain seared through my brain. "I'm never drinking again."
"Me neither." Thomas mumbled. "I swear I'm getting old without getting old."
"You were born a grandpa." I said.
"And you were born a pain in my ass."
I glanced at Ian, who leaned against the counter in the kitchen and stared at the floor. Currently, I was too hungover to think about what had happened, but I knew I would regret it deeply tomorrow.
"I see you're having fun."
My head snapped in the direction of the voice. Caiden stood at the door to the kitchen, a slightly pissed off expression on his face.
"What are you doing here?" I grunted. "I thought you wanted to take a break from us."
"There's no taking break from you, it seems." Caiden sighed as he walked to the couch. "I breached another layer of the webpage."
The hangover left my head almost instantly. Even more so once William brought the bottle of blood. Ian pushed himself off the counter and came closer.
Thomas sat up right, "What?"
Caiden rolled the words on his tongue. I took in his demeanour, noticing the worry etched in the crease between his brows and the dark circles under his eyes. He hasn't slept. But unlike us, he also hasn't been partying all night long.
"They're coming out." Caiden spoke finally. "They want to tell the world about their true nature."
I almost spat out the blood I rolled in my mouth.
Ian's jaw clenched, "When?"
Caiden shifted his weight, "In about three weeks."
My glance escaped to Ian whose shoulders slumped and he took in a sharp breath.
"How did you find out?" I asked, looking back at Caiden.
"I managed to hack their inbox." Caiden said and chuckled, "Vilmus chats like he's writing letters."
"What did they say?" Ian came closer.
"They want everyone to know vampires exist." Caiden said. "I printed out the entire thing, I'll show it to you, but basically, they think it's time for the vampire supremacy and they want humans to know the threat is real."
I opened my mouth-
"Fuck!" Ian shouted and slapped the backrest of the barstool. "What else?"
"Nothing else." Caiden stepped away slightly. "They're very cryptic about it. I'm pretty sure I have to hack more to find out more."
Ian's eyes darkened, "Then what the hell are you doing here? Get to it."
"Jesus, man." Caiden took another step back. "I'm doing the best I can."
