“Roger!” Running to Roger’s bed, Kevin and Wayne grinned. Roger forced a smile on his face as he hugged his friends. “Are you okay?! We were so worried!”

“I’m fine.” Roger strained his smile, spotting Sly looking down guiltily. “You want a hug, Sly?”

Sly nodded, tackling Roger into a tight hug. ‘I thought I lost you.’ Sly buried himself in Roger’s shoulder. Roger smiled, wrapping his arms around Sly and letting him settle into the bed beside him. Justin took a seat next to Sly as Kevin and Wayne sat on the other side. ‘You’re okay now, right?’

Roger hesitated, shaking his head. “Of course I am.”

Sighing in relief, Sly relaxed completely, letting Roger pull him closer.

“So, what happened?”

The group fell into an easy familiarity, retailing the events that had transpired earlier that day. Sly had settled down, his eyes drifting close as he finally let exhaustion take over.

Harry… Harry!

“Roger!”

Snapping awake, Sly looked around owlishly. A large man stumbled into the room, ignoring Madame Pomphrey’s attempts to stop him. The man looked at the bed, storming towards it and throwing Kevin and Wayne out his way.

“Roger!”

The group shared a confused look, glancing between the strange man and Roger before Roger finally whispered out a single word. “Dad…”

“Roger, are you okay?” The man- Roger’s dad- narrowed his eyes over Roger, looking him up and down. “That witch lady said the treatment stopped working. What’s going on?”

Sly blinked, looking at Roger as the word appeared in front of him. ‘Treatment?’

Roger hung his head down, trying to escape his father’s stares. “I’m fine.”

“You’re not fine. You’re coming with me. We’ll get you proper treatment.” Roger’s dad grabbed him, trying to pull him out of the bed.

“What?! No! I’m staying!”

“No, you’re not!”

“Mr Williams, I understand you’re upset, but your son is receiving the best care possible. Taking him to a different hospital will only hinder him further,” Madam Pomphrey tried to calm Roger’s dad down as he growled.

“That’s what they said to my wife. At least in the real world, he’ll be in a hospital.”

“That may be the case but muggle hospitals are centuries behind in cancer research. You’ll be condemning Roger to his death.”

The group gaped, their minds beginning to understand the situation.

“He’s coming with me and that’s final!” Roger’s dad pulled him out of the bed, roughly dragging him onto the stone floor.

Roger hissed, planting his feet firmly on the ground as he yanked his hand back. “I said no!” Lashing out, Roger’s magic pushed everyone back. “I’m not going anywhere! I want to stay here! I want to be treated by Poppy! And if I die, I want to be with my friends, not in some white wall room from hell! Don’t act as if you care about me when you don’t listen to me!”

Slap.

Roger crashed backwards as his father snarled. “Don’t ever talk back to me. You’re the reason she died. I should let your die too but I’m not cause I’m that great a fucking person but don’t test my generosity. We are leaving.” Roger’s dad grabbed him, pulling him from the ground.
