"So any plans on how we're getting though this water, genius?" Evelyn asks.
Tyde walks over to the waters edge, dipping his finger into the harsh, cold water.
"I dunno about you... but I can cast a spell on myself to breathe under, I don't know about you though, to be honest Evelyn," he replies.
"I guess this is where the journey ends then..." She puts her hands in her pockets, where she feels something spherical and warm, and then she realises. "Hey! What about the Blessed Stone of Water, maybe it can help us!" She says, pulling the stone out of her pocket. Tydes eyes widen, "Ya know, that's not a bad idea, of course it's not certain that it'll save you..."
"It's worth a try..." Evelyn takes a deep breath, runs up to the shore and leaps into the water. Under the waves, she feels something changing about her. She puts her hands to her neck and where there was previously nothing, a set of gills had appeared, and she was able to comfortably open her eyes. A few moments later Tyde dives in to investigate and puts his thumb up, signalling, 'good job'. Not long after though she starts choking. Tyde pulls her up to the surface and tells her, "breathe through your gills, not your mouth."
Evelyn nods and dives back under, putting the advise to the test. It feels rather unfamiliar at first, but eventually she got used to it.
Tyde swam quickly through the water, having given himself flippers on both his feet and his hands, and Evelyn struggled behind, not yet getting the hang of swimming under the water, it was beautiful though. While looking down to the river-bed, she sees all kinds of different fish, unknown to earth, different coloured shells, with all sorts of different shapes. There was even strange plant life. Huge blades of grass sprouted up from the river-bed, glowing in a teal kind of colour. Suddenly she sees Tyde come swimming back towards her. He stops when he knows she notices him and points back to where he came from, and then signals to her to swim to the surface.
"What's going on?" Evelyn asks.
"A big group of sprites... plague, sprectral and savage..." His breath struggles to catch up with him. "You say the Earth Stone heals you? It should save you from the plague sprite poison, and the savage ones we should be able to deal with easily."
"What about the spectral...?"
Tyde shakes his head, "I dunno if we can handle them, they can dematerialise, disappear, and sneak attack... just be careful..." He dives back down and intantly puts up a fight. Evelyn follows and takes a moment to analyse her enemies. She can't help but laugh in her mind, their tiny! At the moment she only sees two variants, one of them green with warts and spots all over. Some of them even had holes right through their flesh, letting their guts fall out, she has no idea how their even alive. The other ones are red. They have sharp spears, swords, and shields, but their size make their weapons look pathetic. They also have black tribal markings all over their flesh, both look pretty terrifying, even at the small size, but nothing she doesn't think she can handle.
"Time to get involved in the fight," she thinks to herself, reight before feeling a sharp pain in her back. She turns around, and nothing is there.
"What the..." Faster than the Earth Stone can heal the wound, she feels two more pains on both of her shoulders. She turns from side to side to see two white, translusent, sprites, that disappearing after being seen. She draws her sword whilst her wounds quickly heal and waits for another attack. She feels a spike pierce the skin on her back, she endures the pain and twirls around, the sharp pain dragging around into her stomach, and slashes the attacker with her cutlass. It floats away in the water, blood seeping out of it, and fades away.
"They can't attack when their dematerialised..." she says in her mind. She swims away, she can't suffer another wound until the one she has is healed. Light swallows up the blood-seeping wound that slit her flesh from the back, all the way around to her stomach. She patiently waits for the to attack again, grabbing an arrow from her quiver, incase two attack at once. As soon as she feels her skin slitting on either side of her neck, she stabs the arrow through one of them, lets it go, and then awkwardling swings the sword into the other one, splitting it in half. She puts away her sword and checks on Tyde, who was swimming in a red mist of blood, she just hopes it's the enemies blood, and not his own. She quickly swims over to him, ignoring the mass number of dead corpses surrounding them, and she drags him up to the surface. He coughs the water out of his lungs and thanks her.
"What happened?"
He looks away, "My... spell wore off..."
Evelyn laughs at him, "are you okay?"
"Yeah..." he answers. "Come on... let's just keep moving..."
