The Blessed Stone of Fire

It looks no better inside the cathedral than it did outside. It does have banners and carpets like the others, but they all have blackened edges from the heat of the volcano. In the back, there's a source of lava pouring into a small pond of it, similar to the one in the Cathedral of Water, with the obvious difference.. They don't see anyone at first, and Evelyn runs up to the altar to grab the stone. As soon as she lays her first finger on the stone, she feels a ball of fire hit hey back.

"Evelyn!" Tyde screams.

"I'm fine... How am I fine? I mean... it was hot but... it didn't hurt..." She looks at Tyde who returns no answer, but then they both hear a cynical laugh, proceeding from the shadows.

"You're here to steal the stones... but you don't even know what they do! Ha! Priceless!"

"We're not stealing them..."

"Don't bother Evelyn," Tyde stares the man down. He's bald headed, tall and strong. He has no shirt on, and a baggy pair of trousers, best for the heat.

"Why, if it isn't Tyde... Leader of the water wing in the city if I'm not mistaken." He teases. "Well that's annoying, between that stone and your water magic, my powers will have no effect..." He continues to taunt him. "I guess we'll have to do this... the fun way!" He smiles in a crazy manner. He puts energy to his hand and starts to run his hand up through the air and when he appears to be finished, in front of him appears a huge greatsword, almost as big as he is. He grabs the handle with both hands and mounts it behind him on his shoulders.

"I do hope you've both come ready for a fight..." He says, before charging into an alout frenzy. He holds his sword above his head and gets ready to slam it onto the ground. Tyde ready's his shield of water and Evelyn leaps out of the way. Instead of trying to overpower Tyde's magic, he slams the weapon on the ground next to him before sweeping into Tyde's feet. Blood starts to drip out of his ankles as he falls to the ground.

"Damn it..."

"Any last words?" He asks, readying his sword for execution.

"Just three... Your going down!" He jabs his hand out in front of him towards the opponent. A burst of water flies out and hits him in the face and Tyde jumps back up in reaction, and jumps out of the way.

"You okay Tyde?" Evelyn asks.

"Yeah... let's take this brute down."

Evelyn takes out her bow and draws and arrow while Tyde gets back in the fight with his shield up, awaiting an attack. When Evelyn releases the arrow, the huge sword gets in it's way. He tries to swing it at Tyde, his shield the only thing standing in its way. Tyde starts moving backwards from the very force of the sword. He pushes the shield forward, changing it to a strong current of water to ruch into his chest, then jumps back. He falls back slightly, not expecting the attack, and when his sword follows, the added weight makes him fall to the floor. Evelyn comes charging in with her cutlass, a mere joke compared to the sword her enemy carried, and points it down to her throat.

"Do you have any last words?" She repeats his words.

"Hmph... did you really think it was going to be that simple?" He asked. He pushed his hand into the floor and around Evelyn's ankles spawn vines made from pure fire. They pull one of her legs away from their master and forces her to trip over. Soon after they disappear and the man stands once again.

"I'm growing tired of this..."

"As are we, let's finish this."

Evelyn tightens her grip on her cutlass and sends a signal to Tyde telling him to stand back. He laughs histerically at her, opposing him and his greatsword with her mere cutlass. She stands with her back to the wall and challenges him.

"Bad place to stand, girl, no where to run now..." He holds the sword above him again and get's ready to smash it down on Evelyn's head. Tyde looks shocked when she chooses not to move. Instead, she crouches down, making herself smaller, and as she expected, the huge sword crashes down into the wall behind her. It stays stuck there while Evelyn stabs her sword through the mans stomach. A puddle of blood quickly forms on the ground below and his grip on his sword losens. He falls down on his knees.

"No... Outsmarted... by a teenager..." He coughs up some of his own blood before letting out a groan of agony. "I didn't expect this from you, girl... you have my respect as a fighter..."

Evelyn looks at the mess on the ground she had made, feeling sorry for him. Guilt swallows her up when she says, "You don't have to die, I can save you..." He and Tyde both just stay there shocked for a moment before saying, "What?"

"Evelyn are you crazy?" Tyde asks.

"Stay out of this Tyde," she says. She pulls out the green stone from her pocket. "If I give you this, it will heal that would in seconds... but if I do, you have to let me leave with your stone."

He sits there, a man destroyed. "What choice do I have..." he eventually gives in. Evelyn hands over the stone and lets it heal the man. When he back to his feet he drops it in Evelyn palm and Evelyn puts it away again.

"Look, we're not stealing the stones, we're only moving them, I just want to get back home to Earth, and this seems to be what I have to do to get there."

"Your a respectable woman Evelyn... and a respectable fighter. I would like the opportunity for our swords to clash in the field of battle again sometime, but until then, I bid you farewell."

Evelyn and Tyde leave the black building together, hand in hand.

"Why did you let him live?" Tyde ponders.

"It wasn't his fault, he was just doing his job, guarding the stone. I couldn't let him die for that, it's just... inhuman..."

Tyde shrugs and says, "Well at least we got another stone, so whatever I guess."
