Two Years Later
"You got this baby."
"Come on push"
Sawyer screams holding my hand so tight she might actually fucking break something. I'll let her, as I watch her in awe of her strength. She's bringing our baby boy into this world and it's amazing.
"I will fucking kill you if you ever get me pregnant again Mason Halloway" She grits out glaring at me. I'd take her seriously if I didn't seen the nervousness hidden behind the pain. My little psycho and I didn't plan this, it was definitely a surprise when Sawyer punched me in the stomach then threw me a positive pregnancy test. However once we got over the initial shock we were ecstatic. After asking her to marry me mid orgasm she agreed and six months later she was Mrs. Halloway. If she heard me call her that it would definitely earn me another punch.
"Mom and Dad meet your baby boy" The nurse says placing the tiniest human I've ever seen into Sawyer's arms. I lean over kissing her forehead.
"I'm so proud of you. You did such a good job baby" I tell her stroking the stray hairs from her eyes. Both of us have tears brimming over in joy as we look at our baby boy.
"I love you both so much" I whisper again as I kiss her lips this time.
After they take our baby away to get cleaned up and the pediatrician to do a normal check up. I sit and stroke Sawyer's hair till she falls asleep taking a much deserved nap.
Walking into the waiting room and seeing all of our friends and my family I am overwhelmed with joy.
"He's perfect" I tell them everyone jumping up to hug me. We all talk as I tell them about the birth.
"What's his name Mason. We've been patient and now we would all like to know" My mother scolds me while hanging onto my arm.
I smile down at her. My family welcomed Sawyer in with open arms and between my mom and Nancy, Sawyer has finally felt like she has mother figures in her life. My dad dotes on her and both my sisters took to her right away.
"Would everyone like to meet our son William Henry Halloway. Named after both Sawyer's gramps and dad." I ask as all my family hustle into Sawyer's room where she's waiting with Will in her arms.
"Oh my gosh he's so cute Sawyer" My sisters squeal as they and the moms hover around her.
"Good job man" Jackson claps me on the shoulder as my best friends and dad surround me.
"It was all her. Sawyer was a fucking rockstar" I praise my wife.
I never thought we'd be here. That I would be here. Going back to almost four years ago seeing the most beautiful woman standing in the rain, middle fingers to the sky, yelling at the universe, i could have never imagined she'd be my wife, the love of my life and the mother to my kid.
Ten Years Later"Mooooommm" my five year old drawls out my name. I can guarantee her younger sister has pulled her hair again while playing hair salon. I sigh dropping my hands in the soapy water.
After having Will we waited five years till we were ready for another one. We were blessed with Sadie. My spunky spitfire. While Will was kind and thoughtful with a side of daredevil like his father, Sadie was all blonde hair whirling wind of a tornado. The kid jumped from the roof into the pool this past summer and nearly gave me heart attack.
Coley was born only two years after we had Sadie and let's just say she was a surprise due to a very frisky motorcycle ride. You do not want to know the awkward position I had to be in to achieve that. My girl Coley (named after her Uncle Cole) was all shy until her mean streak kicked in. She tortures the other two with hair pulling and biting, but she sure is a daddy's girl. She looks just like him down to those forest green eyes.
Between the garage and three kids our life is pretty hectic but very full. Saturdays spent with friends. We attend every home game Jackson plays, and we make everyone show up for Sunday dinner including Nancy and Mason's parents and sisters.
"Coley girl stop pulling your sisters hair and for all that's holy stop yelling" I yell back definitely noticing the irony in it.
I feel a large palm press to my stomach pulling me back against his hard stomach.
"Hey little psycho" Mase whispers into my ear before kissing my neck. I sigh. Even all these years later he still sparks excitement in me. Our love has grown and blossom even more since we got married.
"The kids are driving me nuts Mase. I need a mom day or even a night" I beg drying my hands off so I can turn to him. Mason wraps me in his arms before pressing those soft lips against mine. We get lost in each other for who knows how long before we hear a chorus of "EWWWWS" from the peanut gallery.
We chuckle as we pull apart. I take a look at my little family and can't believe how fortunate I was to have them.
I remember the day Mason and I first saw each other.
My stepfather had given me a good beating for not being back home on time the night before. He hadn't cared it was because he sent me with my ex boyfriend to run a drug deal. Nope just landed punch after punch to my sides.
When he was finally done I took off still in my pajamas. I hadn't cared it was raining. I was pissed. Pissed at my dad for leaving, pissed at my gramps for leaving me with the she devil. I was angry no one cared. So while I was giving the middle finger to the sky, well to them, I was yelling at the universe to save me. Save me from the new rotten deal I had been given. I was soaked from head to toe when he stopped. That rough voice of his. Him asking if I was okay. It was the first time anyone had asked me that in a long time. No one cared enough to ask me when my gramps passed, not a single person asked me when they saw the bruises. No this stranger was the first to ask. I couldn't see much through the rain just the dark hair and green eyes, but that voice. Something about it made my insides sing. I felt warm for the first time. So I hissed at him. I laugh now thinking back on it.
A boy fell in love with a girl who had her middle fingers to the sky.
ugh how ridiculous. How cliche. How amazing two people found each other, found comfort and love in their arms. Two people who grew together and created this. A family. A home.
The End.
