   " Don't look back. "

The words that my mother said kept echoing in my mind. I felt like if I stop running my tears will immediately fall.

Will mother be able to survive? Will they really make it out there? What will happen if they die?

I questioned myself, and I know as a young child who was taught many things, the answer was obvious.

My Mother only know basic combat. The knights looked that they're barely keeping their stance.

Even if they run away, they'll probably get caught soon since the attackers uses magic.

  What should I do?

I stopped running and slowly catch my breath.

That time, something told me that I just need to come back. I have to go back.

   I rushed back.

Even if I ran away I will not be able to reach the city and ask for help. I would probably die because of winter.

The knights, must've had a communication device with them and they might've already called my Father. I'm sure they'll be here soon, I just have to help with what I can until they come.

----

As I got closer to where I left, scream of pain echoed in the snowy bliss.

   Mother..

My body is shaking, I've never experienced this kind of thing before and no one ever attempted to assassinate me as the daughter of the Duke.

I've reached the place, there I saw the most unpleasant thing I ever saw.

The knights were all lying down, covered in blood. My mother was on her last knees trying to fight back while people in black robe surround her.

I covered my mouth as I knew, that time, if I make the slightest mistake, if even a little sound came out of my mouth, I'll die.

I watched as one of the black-robed people raises a sword, targeting my mother's head.

I don't want it to end like this.

I don't want to let her die.

Thoughts rushed through my mind as the only thing I knew that I needed to do  that time was to save her. I needed to run to her.

My feet walked towards the scene, and I covered my mother.

  " Don't kill my mom! " I shouted.

It was childish, it was stubborn but those are the only things I wanted to expressed that time.

" Why....are you...here?.." my mother looked at me confused.

" I-- " I was cut off when one of the black-robed people spoke.

" What a lovely reunion, how unfortunate it is that your motherly love won't save you today. " The man spoke sarcastically.

" What do you want from us?! Is it wealth? Power? We'll give you anything if you let us live. " I said.

" Kid, you must be misunderstanding something.." His tone changed.
