Norma was determined, she had a purpose, one, and only one: finding her husband. She had heard what Georges was telling her, that she would never be allowed to see him, even for a slight second. She hadn't listened. She didn't care. Her husband was in distress now. He thought she was dead. He needed her. And she will never let him down when she's the one his body and his soul longed for.

As she entered the hospital building, the heels of her shoes clicked on the floor, forcing people to look in her direction. Her pace was quick, Dylan and Emma had difficulties to follow her. Dylan was wondering how fast she could walk with those high heels on her feet. He was marveled at what her love for Alex made her capable of. It was like she could move mountains just to reach him, to be with him. He was glad in some way, she had finally found a good man, a man she truly loved.

Officers came to them, indicating Norma that she shouldn't be there, because she won't be able to see him. But this wasn't the answer the sheriff's wife wanted to hear, needed to hear. She tried to force her way into the bunch of policemen, but it was futile, they were inflexible. They were also making fun of her, thinking she was just what the town gossips said of her: a crazy, irrational and passionate beautiful whore. Most of them would, by the way, gladly take the sheriff's place in her bed, to comfort her, to make her forget her pain and her sadness.

Dylan saw their glare and protectively put his mother behind him, ready to punch those pigs if they tried something. She was fragile, she needed care and protection. He hadn't been able to protect her from Sam's abuse, he won't make that mistake again. He wasn't a little boy anymore, he was a man, a man who can protect his mom.

"Come on, Mom, we'll come back tomorrow" he muttered in her ear, trying to put some physical distance between the officers and her. Weak and terrified for Alex, she let her son help her and guide her to the nearest door.

Suddenly, she felt a hand on hers. She turned her head to the right and saw that sympathetic and kind nurse who had taken care of her a couple of days ago. She put her finger on her mouth, telling her to be as quiet as possible. She took her hand in hers and began to lead the little family upstairs.

Letting go of his mother, Dylan explained Emma that this person had taken a good care of her when she was there, after... after what Norman had tried to do. Emma nodded her head, hopping that her mother-in-law would be able to see her husband. They both needed each other so badly.

"I'm glad to see you Mrs. Romero! Hope you feeling better" she whispered.

"With my husband here and those damned cops prohibiting me to see him... I could have been better..." the blond motel owner confessed, sighting. "How is he?! Will he make it?!"

"Yea, yea, don't you worry. His wounds were deep but not enough to be fatal. He's extremely tired due to the lack of blood in his organism, but nothing that his wife's smile wouldn't fix!" she explained happily.

"But how will you make her pass the officers, I mean, isn't his room guarded?" Emma asked smartly.

"Yea you're right, but I know the cop who's posted in front of his door right now and for the rest of the night. Just like me, he wants to help the sheriff, he will help us!" the nurse exclaimed.

The family exchanged confused looks, but Norma and Dylan were confident. That little nurse had helped them, a lot, there was not reason she would have changed her mind. They just didn't get why she wanted to reunite Norma and Alex. But they wouldn't question her motives, too happy to have, for once, an ally in there lives.

Finally getting to Alex's room, Norma recognized the jailor looking at them. It was the young kid who had given her back her wedding ring. She didn't resist and went to hug him, thanking him for helping her, for saving her husband. Taken aback by her sudden mark of affection, he returned her embrace and promised her it was nothing. He wouldn't have let those pieces of shit hurt the only good man in this crappy town.
