Kumiko
"IDIOT!"
I yelled slightly in frustration, kicking the chair I once was sitting in. I turned towards the girl I was getting frustrated with, Emma Ichika. One of the smartest damned girls I've ever met. She looked more pissed off with me than I with her,
"Oh I'M the idiot huh?! Who's the one who left their ever so PRECIOUS artifact on the coffee table for ALL to see?"
I slammed my hands on the table in anger, hearing slight cracks,
"I DIDN'T LEAVE IT OUT THERE, I-"
I realized I was yelling, and quickly took in a deep shaky breath before continuing, instead clenching my fists,
"I either wear the watch, or I leave it in a locked and secure place in my bedroom, so there's no way it could've ended up out here."
Emma looked annoyed with me, tapping her fingers on the wooden table gently,
"I still don't understand how you think it's MY fault that it was out here and it's suddenly lost."
My frustration began to grow again,
"You were the last one that saw it, and didn't even bother on at least giving it either to me or putting it in my room!"
She yawned before she replied to my concerns,
"So why is this watch thing so important again?"
I sat down in my chair, exhausted from arguing,
"It's the last thing from my family before the..."
My voice trailed off, and her face suddenly looked guilty, and sad,
"Oh sorry, I kind of forgot that happened..."
I sighed in frustration,
I don't need her pity, I just need back up and support for the mission at hand.
I looked back at her,
"Look it's fine, I just REALLY need that watch back, did you lock the dorm door when you left earlier?"
She shook her head indicating she did not, I groaned,
"Damn it! Someone must've walked in, thought it looked valuable, and took it!"
She looked thoughtful, her fingers still tapping the table, but in a different rhythm. She looked back at me, as if something clicked together in her mind,
"Hey who was that new girl, she seemed really interested in your curio."
I leaned back into my chair, tipping it slightly,
"Yeah I remember her, she seemed off, as if she wasn't real."
"Like you?"
I laughed at this,
"Yeah like me."
Emma nodded, and continued the conversation,
"Okay well her last name is Maboroshi, and I did some research on that name, and want to know the weird thing?"
I nodded,
"There were no records, or anything on her name, I even asked Miss Angelica about it, and she's the QUEEN of Pangaea Proxima for the Crown's sake!"
I started to grow a little confused,
"So wait you're saying she doesn't even exist? Was there somehow another massacre at some point in time?"
She shook her head,
"Nothing, it's as if she faked her last name in the school system, I think she's hiding something Thayne, and she might even know more than we think she knows, meaning..."
She hesitated, her face looking a little concerned,
"Meaning she might know what your watch can do, and who your family is."
I felt my breath catch in my throat, I felt something I hadn't felt much before, fear.
"Which means she could get my mom sent to jail, or worse..."
Emma nodded, standing up,
"Exactly, I'll go out and try to find her."
I nodded back at her,
"Good luck Emma."
I said as she quickly walked out the front door. I sighed and went to my room, rummaging through the little cursed objects that were passed down from previous family members, I smiled when I found the two small gold rings melded together, they were strung by a silver chain to help form a necklace od sorts. I shut my bedroom door, locking it, and pulled the necklace over my head. I let out a deep breath,
"Esmeray Amano, I wish to speak with you."I stood surrounded by an endless dark void, and there he was, standing right there looking around absolutely confused.
"Heya Ray, I have something to tell you. I fucked up."
He looked over at me, his eyes widened,
"Thayne? How the hell-"
I grabbed him by the shoulders, I could feel a slight fear rising through me.
"When you return go to my dormitory, and make sure NO ONE gets into my bed room, if they find my plans I'm screwed!"
He tried to shake me off, but I held on tight. He looked me dead in the eyes,
"Why can't you do it?"
I let go and sighed in frustration,
"I just- I can't okay? Please just help me."
Ray crossed his arms, and frowned,
"Thayne..."
I frowned back, a feeling of guilt stabbing me in the chest.
"Yeah?..."
I watched as he walked up to me slowly,
"Did you... Travel through time?"
I looked at him, slightly surprised that he would think I'd break our deal,
"No! I don't even have all of the formulas calculated for that, nor do I have the appropriate team, which just so happens to be why I need your help."
He stretched his wings slightly,
"Team?"
I sighed in frustration again, and clenched my fists together,
"Look there's a new girl at the Pangaea Academy, I can't tell you much about our future with her, but I thought maybe she'd be of use to us..."
He gave me a slightly confused look,
"What's her name?"
I felt dumbfounded for a second, but quickly replied with,
"I'm not actually sure, but I think she knows the FULL details of my plan, when you are the only other person who knows the full details besides myself, I don't know how or where she got the information, but I think she's coming for the watch..."
His eyes widened, and I watched him shiver slightly,
"You mean-"
I quickly cut him off.
"She could travel through time with it."
His wings stretched several times as he paced back and forth.
"This is bad. Really, really bad."
I grabbed his shoulders a little too roughly, shaking him slightly,
"No time to panic too much, I need you to stay calm, she CAN'T know that you're in on this plan, or else..."
I watched his face get even more worried,
"What do you mean OR ELSE?!"
I let go of him,
"Just trust me, please go to my dorm as soon as you can!"
He nodded, and I smiled my thanks before he disappeared.I heard some muffled voices outside, before a loud knocking began. I got up and groaned, quickly stashing the necklace back from where I'd grabbed it, opening the door.
"Miss Angelica!"
Her face, as always, was covered entirely with a plain white mask, two pitch black eyes painted on the front.
"Thayne Kumiko, may I come in?"
I nodded awkwardly, opening the door for her, I may have been tall for my age, but she still easily towered over me at well over seven feet tall. She bent down slightly to get through the door frame.
"These doors in my opinion should be built bigger, you never know when a student will be too big to even get in their own dormitory."
I cleared my throat slightly,
"Er- isn't that what the giants wing of the dorms is for?"
She stood up perfectly straight and turned to look back at me, at least I think she was looking at me.
"Yes, I suppose you are correct, however you never know when space will run out, and we'll have to rebuild or create."
I nodded slightly. She tilted her head at me,
"Emma seemed in a hurry, may I ask where she's off to?"
I could feel a shiver run through my spine, my face grew warm as I blurted out a complete lie,
"She was late to visit her friends, it is Winter Break still your majesty."
She nodded,
"Ah right, sometimes I completely forget that things like Winter Break are happening in this school."
She stood freakishly still, as though her body were made of stones, like the stone giants. I chuckled awkwardly at her statement,
"Yeah that's fair, you do after all have a whole super continent, and this school to run and serve."
She sighed slightly, her shoulders drooping,
"Yeah..."
She walked back up to me, tilting her head down, to make it seem like she was staring directly into my soul. I shivered a little.
"Kumiko, do you know why I'm here?"
I shook my head no, in fact I genuinely had no clue as to why she was here. She hummed slightly in response before speaking again,
"You're winged friend will be returning within the hour, and I heard through the hallway gossip that you and him had an odd plan, one that may have involved this?"
She held up the watch, it's glass shining in a mischievous way back at me. I felt my heart begin to race,
She knows, she knows, she knows!
She grabbed my wrist, and placed the watch gently into my hand,
"Be careful with it, and whatever you do DON'T do what I think you're planning."
She stood up straight again, her fingers interlaced together across her stomach, I frowned.
"Who said I was planning anything."
She laughed,
"Oh Kumiko, if you're anything like your mother you're certainly planning something!"
I stood aside as she began to walk back towards the front door, I felt confused.
My mom isn't a villain, nor is she a hero, she's always been neutral.
She stopped suddenly right at the door, turning slightly to look at me,
"Just make sure you make the good decisions, and don't screw over the timeline."
And with that she swiftly left me in my dorm alone. I sighed and put the watch back on my wrist.
"How did she even know what this thing was used for, and how did she know my mom?!"
I walked over to my bedroom, and sat on the bed,
"Oh shit Emma!"
The realization hit me, and I quickly pulled out my phone,
"I don't even have her number, DAMN IT!"
I quickly got up, and bolted out the front door, and with a couple of buttons on my watch allowed myself to slow time down enough for me to look into the future to try and find her. She'll be in the cafeteria in about ten minutes, and will stay there for another fifteen searching for Maboroshi...
I quickly tapped a couple more buttons on my watch, time moving at its normal speed once more. I headed straight for the cafeteria.
I should be able to get there around the same time she does.
I ran faster, sliding down the railing along the staircase that lead down to the main lobby, nearly knocking over a couple of people walking up or down the stairwell.
I'll get there in time I have to.
I continued running once I reached the lobby, heading straight for the large archway that led into the big, open cafeteria. I quickly found Emma who was making small talk with one of her friends, I ran up to her, out of breath.
"Holy holder of the Crown, Thayne you look EXTREMELY exhausted, why are you here?"
I quickly showed her the watch,
"Guess you got to her before I could then huh?"
I shook my head,
"Miss Angelica had it."
It hurt to talk, and my lungs felt like they were going to burst, Emma looked confused,
"Why on Earth would Miss Angelica have your watch?"
I shrugged my shoulders,
"I don't know, but now you don't have to find Maboroshi, not until we need her."
She nodded, and turned back to her friend continuing their conversation from earlier. I walked over to one of the benches to sit down and relax for a moment or two, allowing myself to catch my breath again. I sat there for I don't even know how long, but all I know is that time was moving by in a blur.
Thats kind of funny since I can control time...
"Thayne what the hell happened to you?"
I looked up to see who had just spoken to me, and quickly I smiled,
"You're here sooner than I thought Ray."
