Suzume

I watched from a slight distance as Ray and some guy named Thayne began to talk to one another. Ray and I had just got back from our flight train sooner than we had thought.
"I thought you said you weren't going to be here Thayne and that you were busy?"
Thayne shrugged his shoulders,
"Yeah that's what I thought too, but I got let off the hook, I only just got back like maybe an hour ago."
Ray sighed,
"Do you mind telling me what happened?"
Thayne stood up, and he suddenly towered over Ray by A LOT,
"Nah, I'm good, maybe later, maybe not, who knows... Only time will tell!"
Ray rolled his eyes at him, and he turned to face me smiling,
"Anyways, Mel this is Thayne, Thayne this is Mel, I met her on my way to the flight train."
Thayne laughed,
"You mean the one you almost missed?"
He laughed slightly at this,
"Heh, yeah."
I smiled, and gave a slight wave,
"It's very nice to meet you Thayne...?"
He held out his hand towards me, and I quite quickly noticed that his left eye glowed a bright green colour.
Can he actually see through that eye?
"Kumiko, my last name is Kumiko."
I smiled brightly, trying to hide the slight fear that ran down my spine.
So this is one of the only Time Guardians alive still...
I quickly grabbed his hand to shake, he smiled back at me, but his smile was... Off.

This boy has a good heart, but the way he goes after his goals is not so good in the end.

The end of what?

That I can not share.

I grew slightly annoyed at this, and let go of Thayne's hand. I glanced back over at Ray who was smiling at us,
"Hey Ray, can you by chance help me find my dormitory, on the paper it says 'F dot L-Z, four hundred and sixteen', I have no idea what those letters and numbers mean."
Ray laughed at me, and he spread his wings,
"Alright I'll show you, I'll catch up with you some more later Thayne!"
Thayne smiled and nodded, that same smile, that weird smile that I couldn't quite place what it meant,
"Sure thing pal!"
I stretched out my wings and launched upwards to follow Esmeray out of the cafeteria and outside the school.
"Aren't we supposed to be IN the school?"
I hollered at him over the wind, he looked back at me and smiled,
"The F dot L-Z stands for Floor Landing Zone, meaning we have to fly to get there, it's the area specifically for winged folks like you and I giving us a bit more freedom to fly around!"
I gave him a thumbs up, and continued to follow him. Pretty soon we neared, what appeared to be a landing dock, it was painted in a faded red colour. I gently landed beside Esmeray, my wings whistling gentle notes as I folded them back in. He looked at me confused,
"I didn't even notice that before, do your wings always make those whistling noises?"
I smiled awkwardly,
"Oh, uh yeah it's how I move them."
He looked even more confused,
"That doesn't make any sense, wings should move as naturally as any body part."
I shrugged,
"It's my curio's fault."
He tilted his head slightly, and looked intrigued,
"What IS your curio, if you don't mind me asking?"
I rubbed the back of my neck, shuffling my feet back and forth,
"Oh... I don't really talk about it..."
He shrugged,
"Okay then, well I'll find out soon enough anyways."
He started to walk along the large stone paths, everything around here appeared to be floating, as if magic played a key role in this areas design. I quickly followed him, slightly confused,
"What do you mean 'soon enough'?"
He glanced over at me,
"I thought you were smart?"
I frowned, and crossed my arms,
"I am!"
He chuckled,
"You're going to the NUMBER ONE school in almost of Panagea Proxima for curios!"
I slapped myself in the face in realization of my stupidity,
"Oh for crying out loud, you're right! I'll at some point HAVE to use my curio during classes here won't I?"
Esmeray nodded,
"Yeah what classes do you have?"
I handed him over my time table, which showed all of my classes for the year in order, with the times, place, etc. He made slight humming sounds every now and again as he read through the paper, soon enough he handed it back to me,
"It appears we have almost all of the same classes together, including battle training, which is odd considering you're a brand new student here..."
I looked at him confused,
"How is that weird?"
He frowned,
"Well most new students don't even make it past B plus rankings, and yet you're somehow in the same ranking as me which is A minus minus, that's what's weird."
I smirked,
"Maybe I'm just THAT powerful."
He smiled slightly,
"Well I mean considering your ranking in these classes it's safe to assume so, hopefully we'll get paired up at some point in battle training I'd REALLY like to see what happens!"
I nodded in agreement smiling brightly,
"What about flight class, are we in the same one there too?"
He laughed quite loudly before responding to my question,
"Oh goodness no, I'm currently in the top fifty fastest fliers of the school, you're sheet says you're around average level, so unfortunately no we don't have the same flight class, that would have been cool though!"
I laughed awkwardly,
"Yeah... What other classes do we have together?"
He looked back at the sheet before saying anything,
"Well it looks like for this current semester we have Mathematics, Battle training, and Social Studies together. So those other two class you have Law Studies, and Flight Class would be where my English and Flight Class would be, obviously my Flight Class starting a block before yours does."
I nodded, and smiled again,
"That's cool that we have basically most of the day together!"
He nodded, smiling back at me. We stopped walking suddenly and he pointed at a door,
"There it is, your new home for the next few years."
I nodded my thanks and took out my key, unlocking the door. Before I went inside I turned around to say goodbye, but Esmeray was already flying away. I frowned and went inside closing the door gently behind me. Almost instantly the room grew dark again, it felt stuffy, and the smell of fish hung thick in the air. I held back, what would've been, a sudden gagging fit, and let my eyes adjust to the darkness. I quickly found a light switch, but once that light turned on I realized how much nicer the dorm looked with it off.
"Holy holder of the Crown, this place is a mess!"
I guess my roommate doesn't really care much for cleanliness, or good hygiene considering the smell.
I sighed,
"It could be worse."
I looked around and saw four doors, three of them stood tall and blank, but the last one was engraved with claw marks around the handle, and silhouettes of dragons flying away painted on the front.
I guess they like dragons.
I smiled at the thought and walked over to the room furthest from the smell, and mess, and knocked lightly.
No one. Hopefully this room isn't being used.
I opened the door and found the room to be completely empty besides the bed, chair, and desk the school was required to give to students when arriving here. I smiled at the blank walls, and the clean smell that this room held.
"It's already ten times better than home."
I quickly put my bag, and backpack down on the bed, taking out all of my stuff, according to my delivery app the rest of stuff wouldn't be arriving for another week or so.
Meaning only three outfits for the next seven or so days...
I sighed and began to put my stuff in places where they wouldn't get in the way, clothes I folded neatly on top of my desk, in general hygiene stuff I placed on the opposite corner of the desk from where the clothes were. I plugged in the nightlight from home into the wall furthest from the bed, so the light wouldn't bother me too much while trying to get some sleep.
"Why are the lights on in here?"
I heard the sound of heavy footsteps outside my room, and the voice sounded rough and annoyed, I glanced out my bedroom door. I nearly gasped in excitement at the sight of her.
A DRACONIC! ONE OF THE RAREST SPECIES OF HUMAN IN THE WORLD, AND THEY'RE MY ROOMMATE!
I smiled brightly, and cleared my throat,
"Hello there, my name is Mel Suzume I'm your new roommate!"
She turned around to stare at me,
"I thought I'd requested the academy to NOT give me any roommates..."
I laughed awkwardly,
"Oh, well I hope we can be friends!"
She let out a puff of smoke, she seemed annoyed just by my presence,
"Whatever just don't bug me or I'll bite your face off."
And with that she turned around and went into her bedroom, slamming the door behind her.
