-LAPD-
\\Day 28\\
~Lucy Chen~

I walk into the station and go straight to the locker rooms. I unlock my locker and take out my uniform. I close it and head to the showers. Once I'm done showering I change into uniform and go back to my locker. I open it, put my civils away and close it. Finally I head to the break room to eat and listen to music. Once I get there I put my head phones in, grab a muffin from the fridge, sit down and eat whilst I scroll through social media on my phone.

"Morning" Jackson says. He walks in makes a coffee then sits down at the table with me. He then too puts his head phones in and goes on his phone.

"Roll call let's go" Bradford says as he walks by. We take out our headphones and head to roll call sitting in our usual seats at the rookie table.

"Alright today we will be switching things up. Chen you will be riding with Bishop. West with Bradford. And that leaves Nolan with Lopez. Now your job today is to find 1 secret no one knows about your new TO. Nolan what does this help with?" Sergeant Grey asks

"Getting to know a new T.O helps with learning detective skills" he replies

"Yes, so if any of you are interested in going for a detective job in the next couple of years. Use this day to test out your skills. Okay be safe out there. Dismissed." We get up and go to the equipment room. I hand Bishop her body cam, put mine on then grab the war bags and guns. We head to the shop and I set it up. Once I'm done we start our shift.

"Don't even try to learn something new about me boot" Bishop says

"But."

"But nothing. Don't even try you hear?"

2 days with her and I found out nothing I could use. So I'll spare you the details. When it came time for Grey to ask what we learned none of us spoke up leaving a disappointed response from him. We are now back with our normal TO's. Me and Bradford are sitting in the shop on some random road waiting for a call that we know we're never going to get.

"Does it ever get boring?"

"What boot?"

"Sitting around and waiting for the crime to come to us"

"Well we can't really wish for crime to come. We just have to wait. It's part of the job boot" he says rolling his eyes. I unlock the computer and start lookin at maps and running plates.

-Lunch Trucks-

~Tim Bradford~

I sit down with the other TO's at our normal lunch spot. The spot we've been going to for years. Everyone knows us here. I see Lucy sit down at the rookie table and start laughing with Nolan and West. I roll my eyes and try my best to join in on Lopez's and Bishop's conversation. Even though it makes no sense and I usually try to stay out of it.

"I'm just saying I think I'll be the best for the detective position!" Lopez says.

"Oh in your dreams Lopez. I was the youngest rookie youngest training officer and I'm about to be the youngest detective in the LAPD" Bishop replies.

"Will you two shut up" I say rolling my eyes

"I'm just saying!" Bishop says

"Boot let's go" I yell at Chen. I stand up and we head to the shop. We get in and continue our patrol.

Silent shifts like this make our jobs hell but they're crucial to the job. I will always hate them. But also love the. They're great after a long shift of pure stress. These past 2 days with West have been hell all because Lopez didn't tell me he was a broken rookie! I had to spend those days fixing him or whatever Lopez said. Fixing rookies isn't my thing but I can break a rookie instantly. I would never try to break Chen just shape her into a good cop. If she can't take it I have the papers for her to put in her two weeks and she knows that. I always let my rookies know that. It might be harsh but just how I run things and so far my rookies have turned out great.

"God I don't know if I missed this" Chen says

"It's the job boot" I reply rolling my eyes. Then some guy comes speeding by rolling the stop sign.

"Light em up boot" I say and start driving off following them. Chen turns on the sirens and they pull over. We get out of the car and do our normal checks writing him a ticket and letting him go.

Finally 6 hours of writing tickets and patrolling later and shift is finally over. I go to the locker room, shower and change then I lock up and go home.

~Lucy Chen~

I get home and get ready for bed. Showering and brushing my teeth before. I then lay down and scroll through my phone.

<Text with Tim Bradford>

Tim- You awake?

Tim- Lucy

Lucy- Yes Tim?

Tim- Want to go for a beer?

Lucy- Hell, sure why not

Tim- Meet me at Korner Bar

Lucy- Ok

<End of text>

I put away my phone then get dressed into a sweatshirt and jeans. I get into my car and drive to the bar. I park and head inside. I find Tim and sit down next to him in the lounge.

"Here" he looks up and hands me a beer..

To be continued...

Short chapter this week! Y'all I tried so hard to go back and add more but whatever I added to make the chapter longer just wouldn't fit with the next one! But I tried and I hope you enjoy!
