Chapter 24
Trigger Warning: Traumatic fashbacks.

THE MORNING was ravishing, if they were to see the horizon it would be perfect. Blandine never thought being with the Emperor could be also beautiful. All her life, she believed that having a little conversation with Magnus is beyond nightmare, and standing within his radius is death. But now, everything feels so different. The fear is still there, no one could breakthrough a deep trauma over a single day.

She's still scared, but unlike before, there's now a little serenity. She couldn't still get over with the Emperor's doing, however, there's a little assurance deep inside her that Magnus won't do it again because he said it himself. Perhaps, a trust is being built at lines between them. Perhaps, this Magnus could be different. Perhaps. She hopes she's not wrong.

"The sky looks beautiful..." She unconsciously said as she stared at the growing rays passing through the morning clouds.

She had no idea the Emperor has been staring at her for a long time now. As her eyes was fixed on the beautiful early morning, Magnus was silently adoring her beauty. And the Emperor on the other hand had no idea he has been smiling like an idiot while he stares at his alluring runaway concubine.

"Everything here is beautiful, but nothing exceeds your beauty." He said unconsciously. Like, the Emperor just literally had a slip on his mouth. He was just thinking about it, he has no plans to say it as it would be embarrassing. He was scared his concubine might run away again.

Blandine's eyes widened as she immediately looked at Magnus who was taken aback. For the first time in the history, the Emperor lost in a staring contest. The moment the lady shook her head to meet his eyes, Magnus turned away with flushed cheeks. His heart is palpitating like crazy that if his heart is a person he'd already slaughtered it for beating loud and fast. What the heck is happening now?

Blandine's brows furrowed as she looked at the sky again. She thought she heard it wrong so she just diverted her attention at the stunning skies once again. Because why would the Emperor say that? Wrong assumption could kill a person.

"The butterflies hovering..." are beautiful.

Blandine was taken aback as flashes of her despicable memories began to invade her head once again. Those gorgeous flying creatures, no. Her heart hammered like crazy, she eventually lost her composure as she began to reminisce the past once again.

It was painful, she was begging, Lady Amandine was on his feet.

"You find butterflies beautiful?" His booming voice echoed authoritatively that anyone who hears it will back out in fear.

"My Lord..." Amandine calls in fear, she's trembling, she knows where this is going.

"You stare at those flying little imbeciles while you can't even look at me." He said gnashing his teeth.

And just that, with his bare hands, he crashed the butterflies obliviously flying around. Amandine's eyes welled in tears as she continued to beg him to stop. And yet until all the butterflies flying from around were crashed miserably in his hands, the Emperor did not listen to her cries.

"No! No! My Lord, no, stop! I don't like them at all! They're not beautiful, I'm sorry!" She begged on his feet for a mercy she never received.
