And maybe that made her an idiot, but she really believed that no matter what happened she would always be able to protect Tara. That Tara would be safe. That Tara could count on her.
No matter how many times it might break her heart. No matter how many times Tara might push her away.

Darcy wouldn't let her go.  And Tara seemed to know that. Maybe it was something Darcy had said during one of their conversations, or maybe she'd read her mind or something, but whatever the reason, Tara trusted her completely. It filled Darcy's heart with warmth and she squeezed Tara tighter as if it would shield her from any possible danger.
She didn't know why. Maybe it was because it was so easy to be vulnerable with Tara. Maybe it was because Darcy wanted to believe that Tara could rely on her too.
Either way, it gave Darcy a sense of security that she hadn't known existed. Not only did Tara trust her completely, but she also believed in her wholeheartedly.
Tara stirred slightly against Darcy and mumbled something incoherent before opening her eyes. She blinked at her surroundings for a second before focusing on Darcy's face, which was barely above hers.

"Hey," she whispered.
"Hey yourself." Darcy returned, pressing a quick kiss to Tara's forehead before sitting up.
Tara reached up to rub her eyes sleepily. "Did you sleep well?"
Darcy smiled. "Like a baby. You?"
Tara nodded. "Yeah, actually."
Darcy watched as Tara stretched her arms over her head.  Tara groaned. Her back arched a little bit and Darcy almost got lost in the sight.
She shook her head and refocused on the present. Tara was still rubbing her back and Darcy could only watch in awe.  She was still so beautiful. So graceful.
Tara caught her staring. "What is it?" she asked.
"Nothing." Darcy muttered.
Tara raised an eyebrow. "Something's bothering you."
Darcy shrugged, hoping it was enough to hide the blush creeping its way onto her cheeks. "Just thinking."
About what?"
Darcy sighed and looked down at her hands. "I don't know. I guess about how we were both so scared when our moms came into our rooms to find us kissing? Or how there are so many people out there who think we're crazy for being together?"

Tara chuckled. "You mean how we are crazy for each other?"
Darcy smiled at herself and shook her head. "That too."
"We should probably get up now. We have classes soon."

Darcy nodded. "Yeah, you're right. Come here." She pulled Tara into a tight hug.
"Okay, okay." Tara laughed as Darcy peppered small kisses all across her face. "Darcy!"
Darcy finally pulled away but not without pressing another soft kiss to Tara's lips. "I love you."

Tara grinned and leaned forward to give Darcy another quick kiss. "Love you too."
Darcy grabbed Tara's hand and tugged her to her feet. Together they walked through the quiet halls, holding hands and enjoying the feeling of Tara's skin against hers.

When they entered their English classroom, their teacher wasn't even there yet, which meant that they had a couple minutes until class started. They sat down next to each other at a table towards the back of the room, facing the door. As soon as the bell rang, they'd leave together and they'd spend most of the day hanging out by themselves.
They settled back in their chairs and waited for class to start.
Darcy noticed that while most of their classmates were talking loudly, Tara was taking notes. When the clock struck 9 am, Darcy nudged Tara's arm.

"Class is starting soon."

Tara just hummed in response. Darcy rolled her eyes and turned back to her own work.

As predicted, it ended up being an incredibly boring lecture. Tara finished writing everything down as quickly as she possibly could while Darcy tried to stay awake. By the end of class, Darcy was leaning heavily on the table.
Her phone vibrated and she jumped, nearly falling off the chair. When she saw who it was she smiled and sent Tara a text in return.

All the classes today weren't really anything special and they both just waited for the school day to be over.
Darcy stood up and grabbed her things before heading outside. Tara followed close behind. The two of them walked along the empty school grounds until they found a bench near a large tree.
