(BOOK 3) Chapter 21 - I don't know if you know who you are until you lose who you are.

It just comes back in flashes, you know?
It's like a kaleidoscope of memories.
It just all comes back. But he never does.
I think part of me knew the second I saw him that this would happen.
It's not really anything he said or anything he did,
It was the feeling that came along with it.
And the crazy thing is I don't know if I'm ever gonna feel that way again.
But I don't know if I should.
I knew his world moved too fast and burned too bright.
But I just thought, how can the devil be pulling you toward someone who looks so much like an angel when he smiles at you?
Maybe he knew that when he saw me.
I guess I just lost my balance.
I think that the worst part of it all wasn't losing him.
It was losing me.

Once upon a time a few mistakes ago
I was in your sights, you got me alone
You found me, you found me, you found me
I guess you didn't care, and I guess I liked that
And when I fell hard you took a step back
Without me, without me, without me

And he's long gone when he's next to me
And I realize the blame is on me

'Cause I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been
'Til you put me down, oh
I knew you were trouble when you walked in
So shame on me now
Flew me to places I'd never been
Now I'm lying on the cold hard ground
Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble
Oh, oh, trouble, trouble, trouble

No apologies, he'll never see you cry
Pretend he doesn't know that he's the reason why
You're drowning, you're drowning, you're drowning
Now I heard you moved on from whispers on the street
A new notch in your belt is all I'll ever be
And now I see, now I see, now I see

I don't know if you know who you are until you lose who you are.

OMARI

‘’I wanna go thrift shopping yana.’’ I rolled my eyes. The more time I spent the Steven the more I wondered why, why I was even spoke to this guy. It was a bag of boys, a mix of boys from college, secondary school and just some boys that hung around Stevens’ estate.

‘’You’ve heard that song right?’’ Steven said trying to explain him when he saw the weird looks we all gave him He took some money out of his pocket and put it up.

‘See! I’ve only got 20 pounds in my pocket!’’ We all knew what song he was talking about but we all pretended to be confused. He continued to try (baldly) to recite the song and get us as pumped up as him about going thrift shopping. A group of girls walked past us in the shopping centre who immediately caught Steven attention, he started walking backwards to catch up with them.

‘’You hungry?’’ We all burst out laughing. The girls looked back at us and back at Steven, but the girl he was talking to just smiled. She shook her head.

‘’You sure babe? My wallet is feeling a little heavy today, I was hoping to unload it.’’ I was gone. I actually couldn’t breathe.

‘’Swear down you just said you only have 20 pounds?’’ One of the guys shouted. Steven put his middle finger up at us, he somehow got the girls number in the end.

It was days like this I missed, just doing hood rat ish with my friends, wasting time just walking around and terrorising people. It reminded me of the old days. I had bought a new pair of trainers, and I got Kara a pair of timberlands, they were in baby sizes but they looked so nice. She had to stunt like her daddy. A group of Latin girls walked past. We all looked at Kwali, they were his speciality. He did a little bounce and walked over to them.
