Ajax stares at Lumine, glassy eyed. It was 5pm on a Wednesday, yet they were waiting outside school at the bus stop, ready for Aether to emerge from the brassy gates at any moment. "Ohmygod." The blonde girl says suddenly, standing up. "That's it, I'm calling Aether. He should have been here..." She checks her phone. "5 minutes ago!"
"Don't care, didn't ask." Ajax replies lazily. Lumine rolled her eyes, before bringing the phone to her ear. "AETHER WHERE THE FUCK ARE YOU!" She shouts, sounding like an angry girlfriend. "Uhhh....who is this" A crackly voice replies. "Excuse
me??" Lumine shouts back. "I said, who is this??? Are you dumb or something?" She can now determine the gender of this voice. A flat sounding female. Probably a Becky or Annabelle or something equally yawn-inducing. "Listen," Lumine hisses, murder in her voice. Ajax loves when she gets like this. Not that he'd ever tell her that. "If you don't tell me where Aether is, I will rip out your vocal cords." You can almost here the girls eye roll through the phone. "Okay, okay fine. AETHER!" Muffled footsteps are heard. "Fuck, Savannah, why do you have my phone??" Is heard in the distance. "Hey Lumine, i'm so sorry, the girl i was tutoring took my phone and i can't leave without it, you know?" Ajax chuckles at his nervousness. "Listen Aether, just get back here before your sister bursts a blood vessel!"
"You need a boyfriend." Lumine said decisively. Ajax choked on thin air. "ASKAJS WHAT? GIRL THAT WAS RANDOMER THAN THAT UGLY HAIRCUT YOU GOT!" The ginger spat, gesturing towards her short hair. "NAW SHUT YOUR RANGAASS UP BITCH" (modelled after many a conversation with my best friend) She sighed. "No, I'm being very serious right now. A boyfriend would distract you from the fact that all the guys in our year hate you, therefore you're forced to hang out with us." Ajax makes a face jokingly. But, In reality he has many friends but he chooses to hang out with Lumine, Xingqiu, Hu tao and occasionally Xiao and Venti. He considers telling her but..... that would mean he'd have to tell her he likes her, as more than just his best friend. And he wasn't mentally prepared for this angel to reject him. (Angel isn't the best way to describe Lumine XD)
Ajax stared at the crumpled sheet of paper in front of him. "Uhhh, Lulu? What's this?" She rolled her eyes.
"OBVIOUSLY it's a list of potential prospects! I've narrowed it down to the top 3 men for you!" Ajax rolled his eyes, trying to make sense of the mess of scribbles in front of him. The top 3 on her list were:
Zhongli. Opposites attract, he's smart, handsome, well liked and all around amazing!!
"WAIT- OPPOSITES ATTRACT? AM I NOT SMART OR HANDSOME-" Lumine cut him off with a lengthy glare. He sighed, looking back at the list.
"Lumine what the fuck. Anyways, isn't Diluc like 18 and out of school already??" She ignored him, pointing at the next name.
Albedo. idk he's hot yk?
"I....I don't even wanna know." He sighs. "So, i have to pick one boy from this list? And go on a date with him?" Lumine shook her head. "Nope! You're going on a date with all three!" She stated, proudly. He blinked, very slowly, and only once. "All three. I am certain Diluc hates me, Zhongli finds me very annoying and Albedo for sure has no idea that I exist!! This is like the randomest list ever....." She sighed. "You act like you have a say in this.... your first date is on Saturday at 11, with Zhongli. "
"wait- WHAT THE FUCK????"
but she had already sashayed out of the cafeteria.
Ajax sat nervously in a cozy cafe booth, nestled in between cushions. Saturday had fast approached, along with his date. Seeming as he had no feelings for the boy, he was sure the meeting would be sufficiently awkward. "Ajax." The copper-haired boy glanced up. Zhongli stood tall at the edge of the booth, dressed in a cream turtle neck, formal light brown dress pants and a chocolate coloured coat. Ajax felt his skin grow hot, and not from attraction. "Shall I take a seat?" Zhongli smirked lightly. "Archons, of course!!" He scorched over, allowing Zhongli to sit. He smiled softly, amused at Ajax. By the archons, they both knew this was going to be a very long date.
