"Come on, we need to go somewhere."
I tossed the keys to Lea's direction while she is talking with her friends. I even saw her muttering a curse while glaring at me. I went straight to the shotgun seat and put on a seatbelt while waiting for her. I glanced at my watch and noticed that I only have a few hours to waste. Its not like I will go there to save her, I just need to escort her soul. Rubious is just afraid that it will become an evil spirit.
Speaking of evil spirit, I cant believe I trusted another human being in becoming lenient and leave peacefully. I give that information because he kept on begging me to serve justice to his daughter's death. I cant do that! Lea would faint. That's why the only thing I did is give him the name of the killer for his peace of mind. I cant believe it end up causing greater chaos. Maybe I really am the problem.
"Throw the keys again and I'll smash your hand." She rolled her eyes while putting on her seatbelt. She's back to her normal self now.
"Smile, your friends are watching us," I grinned.
She glanced at her friends' directions before looking at me. She smiled at me widely and even pretended to wipe off the dust on my shoulder. Damn, she's so fake.
"Where are we going, sir?" She smiled sweetly, even flashing me her teeth. "Are we going shopping?"
I scowled at her and typed the address of my last mission. I just need to finish this as soon as possible. I can't waste a single minute, its not like time will stop for me. It needs to be done today, because I cant waste another day. Rubious told me that this is the only day for us grim reapers, wanting to be humans, for our wish to be granted. I cant just watch this day pass by.
"This doesn't look like the way to the mall." her brows furrowed when she noticed that we are going in an opposite direction towards the mall.
I didn't answered and just shrugged. She looked at me with her eyes full of confusion, I raised an eyebrow at her and saw her expression slowly changed into a disappointed look. She probably understand what's happening right now.
"Rubious told me that I failed to escort 10,000 souls." I explained.
"I'm not even surprised anymore."
"Hey! This is a real deal okay? I just need to escort this one soul and focused on my goal. We'll go shopping after."
"Just how many times did you fail---"
"Just go, okay?"
She lazily nodded not even convinced of what I said. If I know, she's just not ready to see me leave, that's why she's being very stubborn right now. I smiled at her and playfully played with my lips. She glanced at me, with her eyebrows furrowed, obviously getting creeped out by my smile.
"I know you're gonna miss me, but----"
"Shut up," She cut me off immediately.
She's just shy, I swear. After being together for 7 years, I know its hard for Lea to be left behind. I understand her intentions and feelings. I mean, who wouldn't miss me right?
"Here, we're here. Its a factory. Rubious said she's a nineteen years old. Are teens allowed to work at this kind of field?" my brows furrowed.
"Everything's possible when you're desperate to earn, Soule."
I get off the car and started looking around. Its a tall, white, typical factory. The parking area is occupied with bicycles more than cars and there are no smokes coming out of the building but the floor is wet and there is a small building connected to it. I'm guessing this is just used as the entrance. The door is open and is only covered with a huge transparent sheet.
Lea handed me my pacheko. I use this for business, for comfort, for everything. I cant do anything without having any contact with my pacheko. I'm like a fairy without its wand. I walked inside the building, while Lea followed me from behind. The area is crowded and they are all wearing funny clothes. I stopped walking and waited for Lea.
"What are they wearing?" I pointed at the people walking back and forth.
She looked around and saw what I'm looking at. They are staring at us right now, probably because we stood out too much. Lea and I are still wearing our corporate attires. I'm wearing long sleeve dark blue polo shirt and black slacks, paired with my black shoes. Lea is wearing a white polo shirt and black blazer paired with her pencil skirt and black stiletto heels.
"It's PPE. Personal Protective Equipment. It's probably for waterproof clothing since the floor is all wet. Since the cause of death is hypothermia, the temperature is also one factor why they're wearing that." She explained. "You should've told me we're going here. Everyone's looking at us right now."
"Just embrace it. Its giving main character vibes." I winked at her which made her frowned.
I walked towards a group of people who looks like they're talking about us. Its because I caught them stealing glances at our side.
"Hello, we're looking for Ms. Irish Fernandez. Do you know her?" I smiled.
"Iris, Soule. Her name is Iris." Lea whispered at me while looking at her iPad, checking the details.
"Iris Fernandez." I repeated. The tall morena girl looked at me from head to toe with her keen eyes. Its like she's judging me. I stiffened when she suddenly started sniffing me. Is she even aware how obvious she is? I looked at Lea and asked for help but her stare is already stuck in a short mestiza girl looking at the girl infront of me. Dang it. She's starstruck. She's always like this.
"Bakit nyo po sya hinahanap? May utang po ba siya sainyo ?" The morena girl asked.
Finally, she stopped sniffing me, and what the heck is nangutang? Is that a new slang term here in human world?
"Uh, no. We have to talk to her for some reasons. We saw her works last night on New Day magazine. Its eye catching." Lea smiled. I looked at her confuse as to where did she get that kind of information but she just rolled her eyes at me.
"Oh? Talaga po ba?! Scholarship na po ba kayo?" Her smile suddenly widened.
"Well, you can say that." Lea answered.
I watched the tall morena girl jumped out of joy and ran somewhere, probably taking her friend to us. That would be traumatizing, because she will see a dead body instead. I faced Lea, who is now busy scrolling at her iPad, skimming through Iris biography.
"Why are you even reading that, we're just escorting a soul not taking care of her."
"Just in case you mess up again," she shrugged.
I was about to say something when I heard a loud yell coming from a distance. There, I saw the tall morena girl waving her hand and kept on pointing towards her right direction.
"Tulong! Tulong! Si Iris, nasa loob!" her voice thundered causing everyone to flocked in that area. I looked at Lea again and she just gave me a nod.
"You better do it properly this time," she warned.
