Izzy pov

I woke up to my alarm going off on my bedside table. I opened my eyes and groaned. I sighed and got out of bed. I did my usual morning routine and went downstairs for breakfast. My parents had a meeting today with the king and queen of Stockwhite. I still don't even know the name of the prince. I ate my breakfast with Rachel and went to school. The first class I had was science, which I had with Tammie, Ruby and Sherry. Science and English were the only two classes we all had together. We all sat down and the teacher came in after about a minute.

Mrs. Phillips - "Sorry for the delay, class. Today we will be starting a new research project. It will be a group assignment"

She put down her papers on her desk and sat down in her chair.

Mrs. Phillips - "You may choose your own groups. It will be between four and eight people"

Suddenly, one of the boys sitting next to Walker raised his hand. He ran his fingers through his dark, black curls. I had seen him around the school before.

Mrs. Phillips - "Alexander, you have a question?"

Alex - "Yeah, um, will we be getting an individual mark or a group mark?"

Mrs. Phillips - "I will be giving an individual mark and a group mark. Your final for the project will be an average of the two"

The boy, Alexander, nodded.

Mrs. Phillips - "Any other questions?"

Ruby - "When will the project be due?"

Mrs. Phillips - "I haven't officially decided the date yet, but I was thinking three weeks to a month when you come back from your winter break. This project will be heavily weighed on your final mark"

Ruby nodded slightly and Mrs. Phillips handed out the rubrics and criteria for the project.

Mrs. Phillips - "Choose your groups today and start brainstorming"

She went back to her desk and people started getting into their groups. Most of the football team got into one group. Sherry ran straight up to Walker and so did Tammie to Ruby, even though they were sitting next to each other.

Sherry - "Hey, since there are four of us girls and four of you boys, why don't we make one group together?"

Walker - "I'm good with that. Guys?"

He looked back at the three boys sitting behind him. They all agreed, and so did Tammie and Ruby. Why the hell not? I thought.

Jacob - "I don't mean to be rude, but I really don't know any of you"

He pointed to Tammie and me.

Tammie - "I'm Tammie. Ruby's girlfriend"

Jacob - "Oh yeah I think I've heard your name before"

Izzy - "I'm Izzy. And I don't know any of you besides Walker and Carter"

Jacob - "I'm Jacob"

The one in the back with the black curly hair was just looking down at his shoes.

Izzy - "Alexander, right?"

Alex - "Huh?"

His head snapped up abruptly.

Alex - "Oh. Yeah"

There was something about him. I felt a weird spark inside me. An immediate connection. I also decided not to tell my friends about the prince of Stockwhite thing unless we decided to actually get married. I really don't want to have an arranged marriage, but maybe if the prince is kind and respectful. I guess we'll see.

Sherry - "So, I was thinking we could maybe make a slideshow. Since there are four subtopics, we could work on them with partners"

Walker - "I'm working with Sherry. No questions asked"

Tammie - "And I'm with Ruby"

Carter - "Jake and I already started"

Alex - (chuckles) "I guess that leaves you with me, princess"

If only he knew.

Izzy - "Well then, let's get started already"

He grabbed his bag and we both walked to my desk together. We started working on the project together and he was really smart. Ruby made the slide show and shared it with all of us so we were all working on the same one.

Izzy - "Wow. I thought I was the only one who understood all of this"

Alex - "Yeah, me too. My sister and I were homeschooled for a while before I came here to regular school"

Izzy - "Me too, actually. You have a sister?"

Alex - (nods) "She's fourteen"

Izzy - "I have a little sister too. Her name's Rachel. What's your sister's name?"

Alex - "Lila"

Izzy - "That's such a pretty name"

We continued to talk and work on the project together. I wondered why he was homeschooled but I didn't want to make him uncomfortable, so I just left it. I was homeschooled until I was thirteen because I'm a royal. Eventually, I convinced my parents but I never announced it publicly because of the fake friends I would get. Once the period ended, we packed up all of our stuff and left for our next class.
