Alex pov

We were checking the results of the pregnancy test. Before we even started talking about it, I knew Izzy didn't feel ready. I was slightly disappointed, but I knew she'd feel guilty if I told her. She flipped over the tests. Negative. All of them. I thought she wanted this, but she looked kind of upset.

Sherry - "So? What does it say?"

Izzy - "N-Negative"

Tammie - "What's wrong, Izzy? I thought you said you were hoping you weren't pregnant"

Izzy - "I did, but, I don't know. Maybe I want one after all"

Jacob - "So what are you going to do now?"

Izzy - "I'm not sure yet"

I wasn't quite sure how to react to everything, but then I got an idea.

Alex - "What about this; we have the wedding, and then if you want, we can start trying"

She smiled and started nodding.

Izzy - "Yeah, okay. I like that plan"

Alex - "Okay"

Izzy - (smiles) "Okay"

I leaned in and we kissed quickly. We started working on our science project. Izzy and I were almost done with our part, so we both went to get birth control for Izzy. Once I bought it, because she couldn't be seen, we came back to the castle. Most of the group was almost done with their parts as well. Royal homeschooling is so hard that we actually learned most of this stuff years ago.

Walker - "So, how are your other classes going?"

Jacob - "Mine is good but hella boring"

Izzy - "I know, right. Drama and English especially"

Carter - "What's your other class?"

Izzy - "Music. We're actually in the middle of a project right now"

Ruby - "Individually?"

Izzy - "No. In partners"

Sherry - "Who's your partner, then, Izzy?"

Alex - "That would be me"

Izzy - "The project is to compose an original song"

Tammie - "Can we hear it now?"

She turned to me and gave me puppy eyes. How could I resists that?

Izzy - "Do you mind, Ali?"

Alex - "No, it's okay"

She jumped up and tossed me. We all went down to the music studio and played the song for them. (I tweaked the lyrics slightly but the song is originally Brown Eyes, Brown Hair by Caleb Hearn)

Izzy - "Blue eyes, black hair

Yeah that sunlight, that glare

But he seems insecure in all the photos

He hides inside, hie emotions inside

So he can seem okay, can't have his friends know

"But way deep down he's a lost soul searching

You'll never know, never know he's hurting

He just wants to feel okay

"But sometimes it's alright to

Fake it 'till you make it

Just don't let that be your saving

Sometimes when your life seems

Lost with no direction

It's okay to not accept it"

Alex - "And she stays outside

Thoughts keep filling her minds that

She might fail again if she tries to let go

And she goes to cry when there's no one beside her

'Cause no one really know the things she goes through

"But way deep down she's a lost soul searching

You'll never know, never know she's hurting

She just wants to be okay"

Izzy + Alex - "But sometimes it's alright to

Fake it 'till you make it

Just don't let that be your saving

Sometimes when your life seems

Lost with no direction

It's okay to not accept it

When you feel so defeated

"Try again (try again, try again)

When you feel so defeated

Try again"

We looked up nervously at everyone and all of their jaws dropped to the floor.

Izzy - "So... what did you guys think?"

Carter - "There's no way in hell you two wrote that yourselves"

Izzy - "Actually, I didn't write any of it"

Sherry - "Those lyrics were so amazing! Did you copy them off of Google or something?"

Alex - "Um... I kind of wrote them"

Walker - "Since when can you write like that?"

Alex - (blushes) "Since the day I met Izzy"

Ruby - "Aww! That's so cute!"

Then, I saw my parents with Izzy's parents standing near the doorway.

Alex - "Mother? Father?"

Elizabeth - "Did you write that, Alex?"

Alex - "For the most part, yeah"

David - "That song was really incredible, you two"

Izzy - "Thank you"

We both smiled and our friends stayed over for supper. For the first time in a long time, it was't just a 'royal family dinner', but a gathering of a real family. I realized that family was never about blood ties, it was about the people you ever wanted to let go of. The people you would take a bullet for. I never knew I was incomplete and missing a family, until I found my missing pieces.
