CAPTAIN CASSIA TARIN HAD ONE JOB, and that was to protect Princess Leia Organa of Alderaan. She was damn good at it, too, though she hadn't anticipated it to be so harrowing and difficult. When she took the job, she wrongly assumed the princess would shy away from dangerous situations, not run toward them, but that was precisely what Leia did: she ran toward danger in the name of the Rebellion, and Cas followed her.
Cas had learned over the years to just expect danger at every turn, but nothing could have prepared her for the Battle of Scarif and the events that followed. She had no love for the Empire, and to be fair she had signed up to be a soldier when it came right down to it, but she would have never imagined she'd be involved in a war.
LUKE SKYWALKER HAD ONE JOB, and that was to help his uncle's moisture farm run as smoothly as possible. He was damn good at it, too, though he'd much rather be off fighting in the Rebellion or even just attending the Academy like all his friends. He was destined for more than just wasting away on Tatooine, he knew that much—he could feel it. He wanted to make a difference in the galaxy, or at the very least just be somewhere that wasn't the farm doing something that wasn't farming.
While Luke dreamt of joining the Rebellion and fighting against the Empire, he never in a million years would've expected those dreams to become reality. He never would have thought he'd become a Jedi, or travel to Alderaan, or wind up rescuing a princess and her guard from the clutches of the Empire. But, as Biggs always said, life was full of surprises...

note: Omg hi guys! Here we are with yet another fic! I've been wanting to write a luke one for so long and I've been reading the Queen's Hands series which gave me this idea so here we are! I'm very excited for this one, I love cas so much already and her relationship with luke (and the others) is gonna be so fun to write! See y'all in the prologue!
