~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~Irina stuck her head inside the lounge room of the Compound. "Nat?" No answer. She merely shrugged and entered the room; she wasn't too concerned with Nat's whereabouts. Nowadays, Natasha hardly left the Compound.
Irene came to her desk and got the communication systems up. Soon, Rocket's hologram was up.
"Oh, it's you."
"Don't be so surprised. And ouch, raccoon."
"Yeah, yeah . . . So what is it? Need help again?"
"Something like that," she sighed. "Have you been in contact with Thor since Thanos?"
Rocket shrugged, "Eh. I know where he's at, if that's what you're asking."
Irina nodded, "Yes. I am."
"I don't know his exact location, but he's somewhere on your planet called Norway."
"I can do the rest. Thank you, Rocket."
"Yeah, sure. Happy to help you humies."
Irina chuckled, "And I'm happy to ask talking raccoons from another planet for help." Rocket sarcastically laughed before his hologram disappeared.
"Need some help?"
Irina whirled, startled and confused. "D?" Her lips spread into a small smile, "What are you doing here?" Danvers and the dark-haired woman met in a warm embrace. Irina pulled back, "I thought you were halfway across space right now?"
"No, not for awhile." Carol looked down at the papers and trash —a couple paper bowels stacked, and a Lays chip bag filled with other miscellaneous wrappers and whatnot's— that littered Natasha's desk. "I came to see a friend."
Irina hummed as she turned back to her backpack, and stuffed it full of items. "Then what are you doing here? I don't think your 'friend' is in the Compound." She zipped it closed, and looked back at Carol, who looked at her.
"And here I thought it was obvious." Danvers eyed the backpack Irina shouldered, "Where are you planning on going? Back to space?"
"No," Irene chuckled. She crossed the room, Danvers behind her as the dark-haired woman walked through the Compound. "After our failed attempt of bringing half the universes' population back five years ago, I'm done with alien planets." She approached the glass doors at the entrance at the Compound. Danvers walked ahead and opened one for Irene, to which she muttered a 'thanks' before continuing. "I will leave the planet hopping to the experts, meaning you guys."
With furrowed brows, Danvers asked, as they walked alongside the Compound, to the back. "Then where are you going?"
"To Norway." The Quinjet came into view, the ramp down. "Rocket said Thor's there, so . . ." Irina heavily sighed. She stopped and met Carol's gaze in the bright, artificial lights that lined the fence that surrounded the Compound. "I haven't seen him since he killed Thanos. And I feel like a terrible person and friend for waiting this long to check-in. I could've called all these years, but you know, I don't have his number. I mean, it's not like the God of Thunder carries a cellphone, anyways," Irene muttered the last sentence, sarcastically.
"Is Natasha coming with you?"
Irina shook her head. "No. She still has hope that Clint will reappear and be lazy at covering his tracks, but . . . I doubt that'll happen; he's too well-trained to do a shitty job if he wanted to."
"Then I'm coming with you," Danvers stated, with no intention of changing her mind. She forcefully took Irina's bags from her and walked up the ramp into the Quinjet.
Irina shook her head with a small smile. "Works for me." And followed after her stubborn, blonde-haired superhero friend.
