Sword Sandwich. I shook my head in regret as Usu was playing around with the title design menu, trying to create the Sword Sandwich sign that would hang just above the front door of the place. So far, she had a sword stuck in a Subway-like sandwich, along with a curly font which she italicized. She used a tan background and brown border. Looking over the shoulder, I nodded at her for her to press the blue circle.

She looked at me, smiled, then pressed it. The sign appeared above the door, forming from shards of blue. Falckon, Maralie and Joshuo were inside working on swords, shields and armor, while we were taste-testing food we made earlier.

I took a bite of a croissant type food, licking my lips. Delicious, I broke off a piece for Usu, and she took it, looking at the sign. We sighed, relieved it worked out, and escaped from the cold wind. We walked over to our half, Usu walking behind the counter at the bar. She was shining one of the wine glasses when the bell above the door rang. I looked up from the menu I was setting down on a table. I smiled.

"Welcome to Sword Sandwich. Please, have a seat and select an item off the menu. You may tap the item, select the circle or x, and we will be notified and prepare it immediately. Thank you for coming," I said, cheerfully nodding. They nodded back and took a seat at a table. They're eyes scrolled through the menu. Minding my own business, I began placing napkins on the backs of the wooden chairs. I looked over at the armory half of the store, to see them busy with the waiting customer that just arrived. I walked closer to hear them speak as I sent the notice onto Usu.

"No, I want that Titanium and Zelphite sword," said the waiting customer angrily, "not the mix!" I stood there and watch his hand pound on the counter. Maralie jumped up from the sword she making, squeaking, "Yeep!" She brushed her hair back behind her ear and kept working.

"Sir, we only have the Farnite and Zelphite sword as of now," responded Joshuo studiously, "you can either come back in a few days and we will probably have it, or you can buy the FZ and leave. Your choice, sir."

I was shocked at Joshuo's politeness, even in the worst possible situation. I turned away back to the bar counter to see Usu staring at me. A small window popped up.

"Accept dish Soy Sauce Glazed Grilled Chicken?" It read. I tapped the blue circle and set down the plate on the table, garnishing it with a leaf of parsley. I glanced over at the armor section, to see the customer looking down at a notice window, a notification that food was ready, I assumed. He just shook his head and bought the FZ, walking over to his table.

"Sir," I said calmly, "we do accept sword trade-ins with an extra fee of twenty thousand Col. So, when you think we have a TZ, you can come back in and trade that FZ for the one you want." Then I walked away, wishing to not engage in a conversation with the fuming customer. Usu leaned against the marble counter of the bar, bored out of her mind.

"Want a drink?" I questioned. She glanced up at me in shock.

"Aren't we underage, Ashi?" She asked as I grabbed for a glass cup. I laughed slightly.

"Yes, silly, but SAO has its own version of beer. It can't effect our real bodies, and can't make us drunk in the game either. It's solely for enjoyment." I brought the glass cup over to the tap and selected one of ten SAO brands of beer, titled Sword. How creative. Bringing the tap down, the liquid poured into the cup. I handed it to Usu, then poured one for me. We cheered, then drank a small sip from our cup. My eyes lit up. Usu smiled.

"Delicious," we said in unison. We chuckled. We set our beers on the back counter and I walked out from behind the counter to a few more customers that stood cluelessly by the door. Carrying a sign, I walked over and set it down by the entrance, stating to seat yourself and how the menu works. Then I stood in the middle of the room, carrying a silver tray.

The notices began to pile in. Unberry Salad, Unmeltable Blueberry Snow Cone, Kitsu Soup. Panicking, I accepted each one. Honestly, there was no point to being a waiter if all I did was stand and accept notifications to send them to Usu. I quickly went into the system of the store and changed it. I swiftly walked back to the bar and rounded to the area behind it, where ingredients for each thing was laid out neatly.

"I got it, Usu," I call as I hear her pouring some water. I start with the Unberry Salad, I grab a knife and take leafs of greens and tap them with the knife, and they evolve into chopped up bits. In SAO, cooking is probably the easiest thing ever. It's boring, sometimes, too. I chop up more ingredients, such as tomatoes and cucumbers, and put it in a bowl. I sprinkle the unberries on top and toss the salad with two wooden spoons. I grate some cheese-like substance over the salad and select the blue circle, sending the dish to the table. Then I make the Unmeltable Blueberry Snow Cone and Kitsu Soup. But then, I'm ambushed with even more requests.

Time skip

Wiping sweat from my forehead, I look at the grinning Usu who is cleaning the counter. I grin at her and walk over from behind the bar. "What a day," I say, smiling, "I didn't expect to be ambushed like that." We laugh and I pour out my beer from earlier and pour some fresher beer and guzzle it down.

"Well, a pretty big Guild just made it to Floor Nine today, so that's probably part of it," says Usu. I glance across at the armory section.

"Ey, where did they go?" I ask, and Usu looks at me, "You don't pay attention... While you were making your last dish they came over and grabbed a beer, all of them. Oh! And I heard the Assault Team made it to Floor Eighty-Three. We are all riding our hopes on them." We smiled.

"Now, let's get the others and go fight that boss." Said Usu, grabbing me and dragging me across the store. The others emerged from a back door with Titanium Zelphite swords, the most powerful ones yet. We raised our eyebrows, an obvious question.

Joshuo and Maralie sent us trade requests, their TZs for nothing, and we accepted. "Cool," I say, "now before we go, I say we tell each other our real names and where we live. We have achieved our dream, so I propose proper meetings." I nodded at Falckon to go first.

"My real name is Renno Sakari, I'm 16, and I live in Osaka, Japan," he said, and nodded to Maralie to go next.

"My real name is Maya Histu, I'm 15, and I live in Osaka, Japan, as well," she said. "Well, raise your hand if you live in Osaka, please." We all raised our hands and laughed. She nodded at Joshuo.

"My real name is Tosh Ezuga, I'm 15, and I raised my hand," he said, smiling. He nodded at Usu.

"My real name is Sakura Kuni, I'm 16, and I raised my hand," she said, and then they all looked at me.

"My real name is Hikuro Saitami, I'm 16 as well, and I raised my hand," I said, smiling. We all lived in Osaka, we were all around the same age, and we probably go to the same school. We stood up and headed for the door.

Painful time skip

We moved the last block and the waterfall that served as the boss door disappeared, and we went inside.

We were greeted with a Poseidon-like creature, it was a merman riding on a cloud above a pond. We nodded. We knew we got this. It roared and took out two tridents. Nevermind...

We charged for it, trying to swing at the cloud or its tail, but it was always an inch too high. None of the beta testers reached Floor Nine before, either, so we were on our own. It's tail dipped down every now and then, so I ran over and slashed it with fury. It roared and launched a trident at me, but missed me by a smidget. While being relieved, I didn't realize it had two tridents. When I looked back up, the light blue of the second trident darted at me through the air, and I screamed.

But just before it hit me, everything faded.
