It felt like my heart had dropped down from my chest to the ground when I saw Lucie holding the diary. As I saw the blood smeared accross the page, I realised she saw my diary entry of that day.  As soon as Lucie saw me, the diary fell down from her hands to the floor.

"Did you actually kill him?"  She choked out causing my heart to ache. "Yeah" I said, it coming out stronger than I intended it to. Lucie looked at me before grabbing her purse and walking away. I wanted to run after her but I couldn't move— I was too shocked for that.

Why did I keep that fucking dairy.

After a few seconds, I managed to sit down on the edge of my bed. I should've chased after her but I couldn't.

I couldn't.

I close my eyes, burying my face in my hands as the unwanted memories kick in.

11:57pm

I yawn, closing my laptop. "So much homework" I grumble, taking out a joint from under my table before lighting it. I take a puff as I lean on the chair with my eyes closed.

My eyes widen when I hear my stepmother screaming. I could hear my father hitting her. I blow out my joint before slowly walking outside my room. My heart beats harshly against my chest as I quietly peek over the stairs, my hands shaking as I see my father ontop of Marianna, or my stepmother. "You fucking slut! You think I didn't see you flirting with Jeffrey?!" He screams out, his hands tightly wrapped around Marianna's neck, choking her.

"N-No" She choked out as my father grunts, choking her even more harshly. "Don't you dare lie to me! You fuckin good for nothing bitch!" He spits out as I grimace. "You know what!" My father says, whipping a knife out of his coat pocket. "I don't need you no more you god damn slut!" He says pressing the knife against her neck.

I turn around, pressing my back against the staircase as I shakily let out a few breaths. Dozens of thoughts come to mind—

           He can't kill her.

   She's the closest thing I've
     ever had to a mother!

He wouldn't do that to me.

       I have to save her.

I have to fucking save her!

"Papa!" I scream, pushing him off Marianna with all the strength my 14 year old self could handle.  "You little fucker! Go to your room right now!" Father screams out, getting up but I don't move. I just maintain eye contact with him making him frown deeply. "You motherfucker" My farther curses, grabbing me by my shirt collar.

"Go To Your Room Right
Now" My father says again, taking short breaks after every sentence.
I don't move.

"I see" My father chuckles out before punching me on my face causing me to fall down accross the room due to the ammount of strength and pressure. "Only stand up for someone when you can actually stand up for them" My father says, pressing the knife on Arianna's neck causing blood to draw.

At that moment, I felt something completely foreign to me. My whole body felt like it was on fire and I felt so— so fucking hateful towards my self.
