[A/N:] I ended up casting Demi Lovato (with her black hair) as Mandy. Picture above...

The sound of my alarm kept ringing in my ears. Didn't I just press snooze a minute ago? I struggled to open one eye and read the clock. 6:45. Ugh, I better get up. Don't wanna be late for my day of school. I opened my eyes wide.

Whoa! My first day of school as a senior!

I leaped out of bed and went to go take a shower. I wasn't exactly thrilled to be going back to school because usually this means a lot of work and the start of drama, but I was excited for all of the great things to be doing and celebrating with my friends.

My summer was completely drama free and I didn't need any more drama (as if last year wasn't enough). But I was going into this school year optimistic. And so I played a little music while I got dressed and kept positive. It was going to be really hot today, so I decided to wear a floral dress with my jean jacket and sandals. I did my makeup and made my way downstairs and into the kitchen.

"Good Morning." My mother smiles at me as she leans against the counter, drinking her orange juice.

"Morning," I say, reaching into the fridge for a cup of yogurt. I reach for a spoon and hurry to eat it, knowing I don't have much time before Hunter comes to pick me up since I sent extra time on my makeup.

"I can't believe my little girl is a senior," Dad smiles at me.

"Daddddd..." I whine.

"Senior year is an important year for you, Ace." He tells me. "Applying to colleges, turning 18, prom, and graduation. This is the beginning of the end of a big chapter for you."

"A chapter that has yet to start."

"It will as soon as you walk through those school doors."

"I really don't want to feel sad right now, Dad. I just want to take things slow." I tell him.

"Okay, but we do need to talk about college."

"Yeah, yeah," I mumble.

College. A topic that I have tried to avoid as much as possible.

Don't get me wrong, the idea of college sounds fun and a bit refreshing, but that's a huge step that I'm not yet ready to take. I was never one of those girls who dreamed about college since I was young; I just go with the flow.

I always just thought of college as something that you're supposed to do. Don't get me wrong, it sounds exciting and people say it's one of the, if not the best time of your life so of course it's something I want to experience.

But the thought of living away from my family, the thought of not seeing my friends anymore, not seeing Hunter anymore, really scared me and made me shy away from the idea of going away for school. And I know I shouldn't think that way because Hunter and I have talked about going to school together, but it still makes me a bit sad.

"But we'll talk a bit more within the next few weeks." He stands up from his chair. "I'll see you two later. Have a great day at school."

"Thank you." I say as he comes over to kiss my temple. I give him a hug and watch as he kisses my mother goodbye.

"I should get going too," My mother looks down at her watch. "See ya later, lovebug."

I laughed at her nickname for me and watched as she exited the kitchen. It felt a bit different knowing that my brother wouldn't be at school with me anymore and that he didn't have to get up early every day. But I would be okay. He was always just a call away if I ever needed him.
