Tomioka Giyuu is like a walking body of water. He's calm, strong and flexible. Of course, that flexibility could only pertain to moments of intense battle.

He was described to "suck at talking" by Shinobu, and she also said that he is hated by others. His aloof personality and strong but blunt sense of justice paints him as a person difficult to interact with. Everyday he spends now is quite solitary.

The person in question didn't care that much about it, though. He believed he wasn't hated by other people(aside from obvious ones like Shinazugawa and Obanai), and that they, at the same time, don't like him that much.

Of course he knew that he wasn't liked well. Not being liked and being hated are different from each other. Rather, the idea of being liked by itself unsettled him. At the end of the day, it could just be that people can bear with him, or that they don't care about him.

But then, he happened.

Kamado Tanjiro.

That boy once said that he was thankful to him for saving his sister and putting his life on the line for her. Giyuu had thought it was a given, considering that his master is also entangled in the mess he'd caused.

The moment his master wrote that letter, he was prepared to go down with him too.

So, he thought that the boy was simply being formal with his gratitude, like the others he saved before. Usually, fear could be found swirling in their expressions too.

But the look that Tanjiro gave was different. His crimson eyes were shaking and looking at him as if they were in front of an idol. As if he was someone to be looked up to.

Now, that was unsettling.

Again, Giyuu had met gazes of respect before, but they were mostly out of fearful gratitude, something he's used with in his line of work. His blade up its sheath is only used to shed blood, not to show off.

The way Tanjiro's eyes also shone with much like was foreign to him. To summarize his gaze, it would be:

'Wow, he's so cool!'

'.....'

Giyuu didn't know what to do at that time, so he simply averted his gaze to the trees by the west. The forest had cleared his flustered self and gave him the perfect excuse to avoid the emotional attack Tanjiro gave his way.

So, he wondered. Why is he walking through the Butterfly Mansion's gardens at the moment? Why is he trying to go towards the boy that he had averted his eyes to at that time?

He didn't know. It was just that, the moment he heard the news of another Lower Moon being sent to Tanjiro's way, he was already asking about the boy's location and condition.

-Which brought him to his current predicament.

"Y-Yes?" The small girl asked, trying to not tremble at the presence of the Hashira in front of her.

Giyuu, the referred Hashira, just maintained his expression at this obvious show of fear and said, "I would like to know where Kamado Tanjiro is at the moment."

It was rare for the higher ups to come visit the butterfly mansion, much less this Water Hashira in front of her.

Giyuu didn't interact much with other people unless necessary or approached, so not much is known about him outside of business. Such foreignness made him an obvious and unspoken subject of fear towards other people.

Sumi, the little girl shaking in front of him, was about to open her mouth, but then...

"Hashira-sama, good morning. What is your business in the Butterfly Estate?"
