*Tap.*

The alley was narrow, a suspicious place to meet up in. It was also dark with no light nor form to be seen.

Still, the person continued to walk. Their steps clacked down the unusually smoothed ground with a composed rhythm.

Once the person reached an area where light barely even touches, something shifted along the darkness.

The calm remained even when the shift took a gruesome silhouette, a gorish veiny body.

Soon the darkness stepped also, until its full form was seen. The person simply smirked from under their hood.

"I received a message, deemed it dangerous, but still came here and encountered a monster I can't beat. Am I going to be eaten now?"

Hmm. The voice that came out of the person sounded like an old woman's, raspier than how the shifting darkness imagined it would be.

'But she would do.'

While thinking so, the 'monster' grinned to the point of tearing through his own cheeks with the elongated, sharp teeth.

His body that had prominent muscles seemed to bulge, like something was waiting to pour out of the dark, bluish skin. He then stepped forward, consequently making a crater to the smoothed ground.

"First of all, the name's Roji. Not a monster or even a ghost; a demon." He said, his hand raised and hovering over the person's head.

He made a slight gesture and immediately claws started to grow out of his nails. "You're dying by me here, too. I'm one hungry demon and I prefer dried meat you see, so I took the trouble to write a love letter for you. Got any complaints, old hag?"

"Hahaha, how rude of you to talk like that, without even knowing this lady's age. What love letter spouts things about suicide, guilt tripping me if I do not go? I'm saddened by your slyness, young man."

The person did not move an inch after making that snarky comment, her face seemingly staring straight towards the hand slowly inching towards her way. The demon felt perturbed by this.

'...She's too calm for someone about to die. Is she planning somethi-'

—There was a shift in the air, and a faint sound of someone's breathing through gritted teeth.

"Thunder Breathing, First Form. Thunderclap and Flash."

*Zzap!!!*

The demon's train of thought was cut. Cut off the moment his severed head touched the ground.

Without even being able to resist, even for a little, the demon's body was gone.

"Y-You… What have you-!!!"

Though, after realizing that even blaming was futile, Roji stopped.

Then, he just weakly laughed.

"Just like this, my life… For a dishonorable death…!"

Tears rolled down his cheeks as he closed his eyes, and saw a passing by image of a familiar child. A smiling child, one he wanted to live longer.

'Daugh…ter?'

His eyes bore to the bright yellow haori that landed before he became nothing but a pile of ash under the stark summer skies.

With a click of his sheathed katana, the newly arrived 'someone' turned around slowly, his now opened eyes automatically locked on the remains on the ground…

"G… G-G-G-Gyaaaaaaaaaa!!!"

Then suddenly he screamed. He was faster to kneel, curl up, and cry than how he slashed that demon from earlier. Even taking an upwards glance took as much time as a blink.
