MAVIS WILSON's life changed drastically in 1982. Her mother passed away suddenly, and her father, not wanting to be reminded of her loss, or not wanting to accept the fact she was gone, decided to move the two-person-family to Hawkins, Indiana; his hometown. So not only did Mavis had to deal with her mother's death, she also had to deal with being thrown in a whole new environment. Because Hawkins was a place she had no connection to, a place where she didn't feel at home.
However, she tried to give it a chance. She joined the photography club at Hawkins High, wanting to make friends and find a new hobby. And she did. Life was good for a while and Mavis slowly started to feel at home in Hawkins. But... all good things must come to an end.
Jonathan stopped hanging out with her to focus on his brother's disappearance; her Detroit friends stopped answering to her letters; her father started to drink heavily, neglecting his job and his daughter.
It was in that moment that Mavis decided she would leave Hawkins straight after graduation and move far away, to a place where she could start over. Hawkins had never been her home, and it never would be.
Or so she thought.
Because in 1985, she would be forced to join forces with the most unlikely group of people. And her life would change drastically. Again.
