Chapter One

'The Scream'

Tick....
Tock....
Eleven had been put into the Nina Project, she was learning.
She was trying to get the red counter to fall into '3'. She had been trying to do so for many hours in total.
She groaned as it fell into '4', it had been doing so for the past hour that she had spent in the Rainbow Room, she had earnt the extra time in the Rainbow Room because she won a competition against 003, in some of the children's joint lesson.
She had heard a loud scream coming from directly behind her.
Her eyes widened, she knew that scream... It tugged on her brain cells, it was so familiar.
She stood up and dragged her feet along the cold floors, the screams grew louder as she neared the exit doors of the Rainbow Room. She gently opened the doors, making sure she was as quiet as possible. She didn't want to get on 'Papa's' bad side.
She heard the screams leading towards the left... She crept over to the first door on her immediate left, and she peeked through the window, she saw 'Papa' standing with his head in his hands, she saw further into the room and saw two guards with what looks like electronic torture devices, although she wasn't sure what they did, she knew that they caused much pain, she looked down slightly to see who they were hurting...
What she saw scarred her eyes forever.
It was the only child in the lab who cared for her.
004.
El had fond memories of the girl, the way she would always hide with El in the corner of the Rainbow Room and soothe her after El's failed lessons, she would bandage her wounds with her hospital gown, even though they hurt her for ruining her 'clothes', she didn't care, she was helping somebody else. She had always been older than El, she was 18 when El saw her being tortured in this very moment. She was always picked on and bullied by the other children. El had seen how close she was with her and the blond man that visited the Rainbow Room every once in a while. He appeared orderly, intelligent and friendly to Eleven, he didn't speak much to anyone but 004, sometimes he would greet Eleven with a smile and a simple greeting.
El ran towards a corner as she heard the door open, she saw 004 being dragged by the same guards, the dragged her as if she was a piece of dirt, nothing more. It hurt El, 004 deserved much more than what she was given.
She ran down the halls, down a stairway into the boiler rooms below the lab. She ran and hid in a corner, she began to cry, and cry.
Suddenly she heard a voice and felt a hand on her shoulder.
'Why are you down here? Shouldn't you be in the Rainbow Room?'
She lifted her head and saw the blond man. He had a small smile upon his face to try and comfort her.
She shook her head and buried it in her arms again.
'Tell me, please.'
She looked up again.
'Shh, we must move to a darker space, I hear movement.' He lifted his hand and rose from his crouched position, he offered her his hand to help her up.
She took it and followed him until they reached a darker space, where they couldn't be seen.
'What happened Eleven? Why do you look so shocked?' He placed her hand upon her shoulder once more.
She told him everything, about what she saw when she crept out of the Rainbow room, and saw 004.
His face visibly tensed and became contorted with anger, his hand suddenly fell off of her shoulder.
He began to speak, but his voice was hard to hear, it was more of an aggressive mutter.
'Stay... Here.'
He left Eleven and began to race up the stairs into the main hallways, he used his powers to kill, seriously injure, and torture the guards.
He had rampaged through the lab for 45 minutes, killing anybody who crossed his path, he seeked out all of the other children, and killed them too. But he couldn't find 004.

Eleven had run out of the boiler room and into the Rainbow Room, which is now where 001 stood, he had just killed 005. His back turned.
What she saw in front of her scared her into speechlessness.
001 Wiped the blood that fell from his nose.
She saw his rolled up, and she saw that on his left forearm. He had a tattoo. It read '001'.
She was shocked, shocked that he had killed everyone. But also that he was an experiment, just like her, just like 004.
He turned his head around slightly, before speaking.
'Where... Is... She...'
She tried to turn around and run while he has his back turned, but she was too late. He spun on his heel and closed the doors, locking them. He stepped forward until they were face to face.
'Where... Is... My... Girlfriend...?' He said slowly, his tone deadly.
Eleven stared into his eyes, they were in a relationship? She knew they must've been close, but not... together?
When she didn't respond once more. He spoke again.
'Is she dead Eleven?'
'I said... Is she dead Eleven?!' He spat, his anger consuming him once more, turning him against the girl.
'TELL ME IF ESTELLA IS DEAD!' He screamed at her, revealing her real name, he had found it when he destroyed Dr. Brenner's office. He found her file.
'I... I don't- I don't know...' El whimpered, clearly terrified by the sight in front of her.
'I asked you a question.' He spoke, orderly tone disguised as a deadly response to her 'answer'.
'One... Simple... Question...' He said, manipulating his tone.
'Did they. Kill. My. Girlfriend?' Adding a fake smile onto the end.
She stood there silently, not knowing how to answer him.
'Answer. The Question.' He spoke again, the fake smile instantly being replaced by one of anger.
He lifts hid hand up to his head, making a gun with his fingers.
