THE SCREAM.
ELEVEN HAD BEEN PUT INTO THE NINA PROJECT, SHE WAS LEARNING.
At the present moment, she was trying to ensure that her red counter would fall into the area labelled '3'. So far she supposed that she had spent an hour attempting this.
So, naturally, she groaned as it fell into the fourth box. It had been doing this continuously for the past hour that she had spent in the Rainbow Room, she had earnt the extra time in there because of a competition she won earlier against 003, she wouldn't have beaten 002, but he had been pulled out for a medical examination just before she went head to head with him.
She had heard a loud scream coming from directly behind her.
This caused her eyes to widen, Eleven knew that scream, it tugged on her brain cells, it seemed so familiar.
The small girl rushed to her feet as she dragged her feet along the cold, tiled floors, the screamed seemed to just increase in volume as she neared the exit doors of the bright room. Gingerly, she opened the vast doors, attempting to ensure she wouldn't be caught by an orderly, or Papa - she didn't want to get a punishment.
Screaming was now leading her towards the left, poor little Eleven's heart beat so rapidly against her ribcage, praying that it would stop, that it would stop so her curious mind could be laid to rest so she could just go back to playing in the Rainbow Room.
After she believed she found the door that led into the room the sound came from, she lifted herself onto her tiptoes as she peeked through the windows, her first sight was Papa, his head in hands as she stood onlooking what was happening, his gaze never seemed to waver despite the screams of pain that sounded on the other side of the room.
Eleven shouldn't have looked over to follow his line of sight, she should've stayed curious.
What she saw scarred her eyes forever.
Two orderlies stood with devices in their hands, electricity crackling at the end of them, and although she never had them used on her before, she knew that it would be painful.
And there was a girl sat in the chair, the only subject in the entire lab that was recognisable by her long, flowing hair.
Four.
Little Eleven had fond memories of the brunette, the way she would hide with El in the corner of the Rainbow Room, the way she would soothe her after the poor girl's failed lessons or competitions, the way she'd bandage the bruises and cuts she would attain by ripping off pieces of her gown, uncaring to the fact that she would be punished for the actions.
She had always been older than the little girl, when Eleven found her in this situation, she was nineteen, she was always picked on, bullied, by the other children in the facility.
Four had never really been the talkative type to many people, only sometimes mumbling words to the others, but she would talk to Eleven, and whenever the blonde orderly was there, Eleven noticed they were quite close as well, the girl seemed to be more open around him.
Eleven liked that orderly, he was friendly to the young girl, sometimes teasing her in a brotherly fashion, unlike the other distant figures that stalked the Laboratory.
The girl rushed towards a corner as she heard the crackling of electricity and the screams stop, soon hearing the door open as she caught sight of Four being dragged along the harsh floors by the same pair of orderlies that had given her the pain, they dragged her as if she was a piece of dirt, nothing more, but perhaps much less.
Her breathing became uneven as she panicked, her legs seemed to run without her noticing, towards a room that seemed to be the only one without cameras, the boiler rooms below the laboratory. Eleven couldn't help but curl herself into a small shape, sobbing into her arms, absolutely terrified.
