Chapter 4- new people

I hated Monday's. Monday's were when I had to get up extra early to work on chores around the house, then go to school. I hated school because I'm a foster kid so no one wants to be my friend. It doesn't really bother me but it would be nice to have at least one friend.

This Monday, however, was different. I was excited because right after school I had an interview with people who may want to adopt me. I didn't want to get my hopes up but I was extremely excited! Zach texted right when I woke up 'hope interview goes well! Pick you up from school?' I replied thanking him and smiling that I got to see him right after school. My life was truly becoming good.

I couldn't focus at all in school. All I could think about was what the family that wanted to adopt me was like. I wondered if they would look like me or have anything in common with me. I wondered if they had any kids or if they were serious about adopting me.

After school I ran to the parking lot and saw Zach waiting for me in his car. "How was school?" He asked smiling. "Awful! I'm so excited to go home!"
"Haha never thought someone would want to go back to a group home" Zach said jokingly. I just flirtatiously hit is arm and giggled. "Whatever." I said

Zach dropped me off and I ran inside to brush my tangly hair before I met the family. When I walked back downstairs, I saw them sitting on the couch smiling at me. They looked kind. The woman had blonde curly hair and sparkly blue eyes and the man was sitting beside her holding her hand. His hair was auburn and his eyes matched his hair. "Hello, you must be Haley." The woman said. "My name is Margaret and this is my husband John."
"Hi! It's so nice to meet you!" I replied realizing how excited I sounded.
"We believe you know our daughter, Lilly? All she talks about is you and we would love to reunite the two of you." She said. Suddenly my heart rate sped up and my head started spinning. Lilly? My sister? We were being reunited?! "You know Lilly?" I said excitedly. Margaret laughed. "Yes we do we are sorry she couldn't be here today but we would love to arrange adopting you."
This was amazing! I was going to be adopted? See my sister? And Zach and I were so close to dating!

Life was really looking up for me and I realized that if I were adopted I would be replacing Tiffany. My heart dropped. Tiffany was all the family I had right now, she had been with me this whole time and I doubt she could handle this home without me.
"Will I still get to see Tiffany?" I asked
"Who is Tiffany dear?" Margaret asked
"She lives here with me." I replied
Then Margaret and John looked at other worriedly. I was wondering what they were thinking.
"Oh dear....." Margaret said.
"You know we live in Carolina right?" John asked.
